Well, 2 1/2 years fightin and the Rona finally got me, and boy did it do a number on me! Hit me about a week ago, I have completely lost all my hearing, as in Totally Gone! The Doctors have tested everything and it seems the virous as some how destroyed my hearing both sides! Now, I suffer some hearing loss due to my time in the military, and while I need hearing aids, this is much worse, as my hearing aids don't work at all now! I gotta wait to get through the Rona and endure a bunch more tests and decide what if anything can be done! This is gonna suck big time, i'm used to a pretty good loss, but complete deafness is a new one, likely my new reality now!

Holy crap! I have never heard of anyone who had that symptom. No taste or smell, yes sometimes gone even for month but never the no hearing. Do they think it will come back like the taste and smell comes back? I’d email the doctors at the FLCCC right away.

Ya ever had an inner ear infection, you can still hear your own voice inside your head, even though you really cannot hear what people are saying? Ok, this isn't like that at all, I cannot ever hear my own voice or any sounds, just sort of feel it in my head! If the wife sits right next to me and talks in her normal tone, I can just make out the words through the vibrations, but cannot actually hear the sound!
We have been taking all sorts of vitamins, supplements, boosters and such, well proven to at least lesson the effect if not outright beat this! Was working up until a few days ago, and I'm the only one that got really hit with it!
Us ether! I lost some taste for about 6 hours, and some smell, but it all came right back in less then 12 hours! The fever only lasted maybe 8 hours total, and the nasty hacking cough, which also went away right away, no more then 6 hours! Honestly, it felt like the regular run of the mill flu then anything else!
Sorry to read about your hearing loss. Sounds miserable. I hope your condition resolves itself. Do you have any problems with vertigo since this started?
Sorry to hear of your Corona virus travails...hearing loss is a serious blow...best wishes for your recovery. It could be a mixed blessing depending on the harmony level of your domestic relationships. You may also find that your ability to develop lip reading skills will compensate for your hearing loss...I have some hearing loss (occupational hazard of being a mortarman (3" and 81mm)) and find that I can get by in a noisy environment by facing a speaker, provided that they enunciate their words clearly and deliberately instead of mumbling or slurring words. I have been fortunate in these past 2.5 years in not getting Covid19...I put it down to the effectiveness of vaccinations and boosters and a hand hygiene, masking and social distancing regimen that Howard Hughes would be impressed by. Best wishes and keep your immune system bolstered with vitamins and other good stuff...do not neglect that which keeps your optimism and morale high...am sure you are getting the best loving care possible at home.
Dang it man, Like others here I've never heard of the hearing loss thing, Speedy recovery man as you seem to be a fighter!
I can't say much more than what others have said already,,, that's a really strange affect . I pray it will pass and you get back to normal soon .
Unlike the current protocol of letting the disease run it’s course, I believe in knocking it out at the moment of discovery. When I got coved I drank several ounces of colloidal silver and took vitamins that are recommended and spent as much time in the sun as I could. I lost taste an smell and an abiding aroma that was sweet, unlike others that smelled gasoline all the time. Since coved I have a neuropathy that happens at random through out my body , sometimes like a touch and other times a bite like pain. It is slowly going away but it’s been a year and there is no guarantee it will ever go away completely. You are the first to mention hearing loss , I can sympathize, my daughter has always had hearing limitations hearing aids don’t always work. I have other deaf friends, we learn to sign with . ASL is the most popular, though there are a lot of variations. Texting may be a reasonable alternative for you. Some phones have voice recognition that might enable you to understand others speaking. One might look at it an opportunity to gain a new skill.
