There are more guns legally owned in Australia now, than there were in the immediate aftermath of the Port Arthur Massacre. Yes there was a gun buyback at that time, and many guns were surrendered that owners no longer wanted to keep, or were proscribed by the Liberal / Country Party conservative government, i.e. assault rifles (and similar auto and semi auto firearms) No cowardice involved....

We do not have active shooter mass killings in schools in Australia at all, let alone on the scale of Sandy Hook or Uvalde...whereas in America, that is the unfortunate price to be paid, not by courageous patriots exercising their 2A right to own guns without much restriction, but by the cavalcade of gunshot victims in schools, supermarkets, places of worship and shopping malls. More mass killings by gunshot in America will inevitably occur whilst the status quo remains.

As to Betty White being dead, she has shown far more insight and wisdom on the issue than the gutless legislators who are allegedly 'alive', but FITH.

 

Why do you blame the guns? I am almost 80 yrs and have had guns since i was 6 or 7... my guns have never killed anyone, have yours? Back then we put crazy people where they belonged .Back then if you killed someone you were put to death or stayed in jail the rest of your life. The idoit in Texas should have been put away a long time ago. Also his parents should be found and put away the rest of their life for letting this happen. He was queer to start with.

I heard there are around 300 million guns owned in America. I think we have around 350 million citizens. If we had a gun problem,, this country would be uninhabited ,,, or just a very few left . But we don't have a gun problem,, we have a lack of respect,, and a lack of accountability problem. We have a problem with our government not committing our mentally challenged folks to a proper facility. We have a problem with the government wanting to allow us to protect ourselves and others . We have a problem with inept politicians .

. We do have a lot of problems over here ,,, but guns are not one of the problems ,,, some people are the problem. Anyone thinking their government is going to save them ,, are part of the problem. Do you know how governments save people,,, by coralling them to were they can be watched ,, and the bad ones culled out .

I'm 60 yrs old ,, have had guns since I was 8 or 9 yrs old ,,, none of my guns have ever shot anyone,, and neither have I. Except for the possibility being in combat zones . Guns are not one of our problems.

The last time I checked,, hammers and bats killed more people than guns . More people committed suicide with guns than were murdered with guns . Malpractice by doctors kill more people than guns . Guns are not the problem here . People are.

And I do not hold anything against any of our out of country members here ,, and I respect your views ,, but a phrase from a song written by one of my favorite songwriters and Patriots of my country wrote ,,,, " We may do a little bit of fighting amongst ourselves, but you outside folks best leave us alone ."
