Per the SA doctor that identified Omicron the symptoms are very mild. Main symptoms were fatigue and fever and lasted a couple of days. It's very virulent, but very mild, so IMO it's basically a free natural vaccine. Perhaps that's the real reason for going DEFCON 1 on this outbreak.
Just read that report, and I heaved a heavy sigh of relief. Been in this crap, close and personal, and I have had it with the scare tactics. I have been covid free, however, it can still happen. But!! It does spread rapidly, and is much easier too catch, so that is enough too order every one to their bed rooms and have too mail all the pudding cups too the white house.

Not dissimilar to the experience of many who were vaccinated and no telling how many had much milder symptoms that were undetected or unreported. When they recover they have better immunity than had they been vaccinated. Unless they symptoms are much more severe than reported it may be better to consider it a free vaccination that's more effective and let it rip. Of course the downside would be lost profits for Moderna, Pfizer, and J&J. Also politicians and unelected officials like Fauci would lose their control over us unwashed masses.
It's early days yet before arriving at definitive answers about the Omicron variant. Population studies will be needed to measure the actual characteristics of transmissibility, morbidity and mortality; and the effectiveness of existing vaccines against it. The thing with prophets is that their undiscerning followers are prepared to give them credit for any hits their prophet's predictions make, no matter how coincidental; and ignore the misses, no matter how monumental....Jones is just the Harold Camping of conspiratorial prognostication making...if everything is a hoax, then when an actual hoax can be demonstrated, no matter how trivial, it offers cover for all the other B.S. claims and predictions. Neither recovery from infection by earlier variants, nor vaccination offer 100% protection against the Sars-Covid2 disease. We know that there have been breakthrough cases of people who have been infected by an earlier variant, and had been infected subsequently by the same or different variant. We also know that there have been some breakthrough cases where some people have become infected with Covid19 despite vaccination. Immunity (both in response to natural infection and vaccination) diminishes over time, hence the necessity for booster shots. Although a combination of natural immunity (by prior infection), and vaccination have been shown to offer a higher degree of immunity protection than without having any prior infection, that doesn't offer absolute 100% protection, even though it does offer a substantial degree of protection. At best, it may be suggested that Omicron may offer some protection against present and future variants, but the degree of such protection is as yet unknown without further scientific research. It is a little early to be breaking out the champagne and toasting Omicron as the saviour of humanity against Covid19 death and disease.
