It makes me think that my time spent there was for nothing. Have all my deployments been for nothing? Was my 22 years served for nothing? What has become of my country? Now we have people wanting to push vax passes and social credit scores like China. This makes me sad.

Send your thanks to G. Dubya For stupidly getting American troops (and an international coalition 'of the willing') stuck in that 'tar baby'. of fighting Afghan tribesmen...who, incidentally have seen off British, and Russian interlopers previously with their tails humiliatingly dragging behind them.

Instead of a Pavlovian marching off to the sabre rattling rhetoric of a good ol' boy dumb@$$, it may occasionally be worth while thinking through the implications of following a president into a pointless war against which the Army is not equipped doctrinally to fight, on the side of a home side ally which does not have a sufficiency of broad support of the local yokel population generally....as unpopular as the Taliban is, most of the locals just want to grow their opium crops for western consumption without having the crap being blown out of them by both the 'allied' and Taliban forces, simply because they are in the middle of it all.

Think of all the treasure and human potential that would have benefitted the USA at home instead of being squandered in a Vietnam round 2 style insurgency conflict...but what the hey...the military industrial complex and its lobbyists and investors did well out of it, so there is that I suppose.

The Taliban are 20 miles from the capital. It's 8:31 in Kabul and the first cadre of 1000 US troops are set to arrive at Karzai International Airport and will soon be engaging on VERY dangerous ground.
In the meantime, President Puddin Cup is at Camp David.

I find it interesting that some are suddenly concerned about an absentee Commander in Chief when American Troops are being ordered into harm's way...where were such pearl clutching critics when Commander-in-Chief #45 was skulking on a golf course on one of his majesterial brand name estates, watching Fox News interminably, or spending large portions of 'executive time' engaged in twitter combat?

Its not as if he had any interest in the US military except for its value in promoting himself.

You sure do have a twisted view of Trump and our politics there Chelle, he is/was OUR problem, not yours, ( Show us on the doll where the Bad Orange Man hurt you!) Trump didn't send troops to fight that conflict, he inherited it from his predecessors, and in fact, it was Trump who had the draw down and peaceful transfer of control all set to go! Yes, Bush Sr. is the one who kicked it all off, not that he really had the choice given it was the CIA who had intervened in the middle east long before anyone had ever heard of the middle east bullshit wars between tribes, and installed old what's his name Baghdad Bandit Saddam, but it was Klinton who really pushed this over the line, and Shrub Jr. kicked it into over drive with the Patriot Act, Obummer simply took all the credit for "Job #1" killing Bin salibin-laudin, making the Patriot act even more over reaching and draconian, while escalating tensions in Iran, and destabilizing Iraq, after paying Iran a 737 load in cold hard cash, plus sending millions in weapons across the southern border to help keep the drugs out of the good ol U.S.of A, and lets not talk of the racial bating he rolled out bigtime, feeding that frenzy in ways that set us back decades! Of all the POTUS we have had, Obummer has by any measure, done the worst of all combined in his short 8 years ( And continues to do so even now), so much so that I seriously doubt we will ever fully recover from it all, and be warned there Chelly, what happens here, will seriously effect YOU down there, You might wanna back off the anti Trump trop and get on board with the real issues that WILL effect you and the rest of the free world! Remember, like it or not, YOU are tied at the hip to the U.S. and everything that happens for good or ill! Trump is gone now, time for you to find another Boogeyman to rant and rave and rage on about!

I find it interesting that Biden is walking into walls and mumbling to himself while every Leftist is trying their hardest to distract from it with more contrived Trump allegations. He's gone, you don't have a scapegoat any longer.

Not to mention getting lost in the bushes when returning home to the White House, even though Secret Service agents were attempting to guide him.

Concerning specifically Afghanistan, I think the main difference between the two presidents and the withdraw from Afghanistan is that the Taliban were afraid of Trump so they would stick by the deal - until we were long gone; however, they never would have lived up to it anyway. They see Biden as the weak, drooling, idiot he truly is controlled by committees and numerous power groups and players. Make no mistake, the Taliban know exactly what they are doing and why. The see a great opportunity, and rightly so, to seize the initiative now, before the Afghan government can sort itself out now that the Americans are not around, and it's working for them. Furthermore, if they can replicate American departure from Vietnam (helicopters on Embassy grounds) they will do so because it will be a HUGE blow to American morale and further discredit the USA while at the same time instill backbone and motivation to the hardline Islamic world.
    That's my two cents...

  11. First, my snarky comment. Will Biden be remembered as being as good a president as Jimmy Carter? There is a reason Afghanistan is referred to as the graveyard of empires.

The Taliban captured the fifth army corps headquarters in just four days. Only a commando corps and an army division in Kabul are still under govt’s control. It means the Taliban might have seized around 70% of Afghan military equipment — all donated by US.

US officials are appealing to the Taliban to wait for the completion of the U.S. evacuation, saying that doing so would increase "the likelihood that both the international community and Afghans will accept the Taliban’s entry into the capital."

it's estimated we left behind 1-2 billion dollars worth of military equipment in The fall of Vietnam and much went into the NVA arsenal. Wonder how much we are leaving behind in Afghanistan the Taliban can use --against us.

Jimmah was the worst president, but he is light years ahead of Bidumb. Sleepy Joe has nearly 50 years of being wrong on everything he touched and that will be neigh on impossible to beat.

Thank you @nkawtg for your posts. I am hearing that the Taliban is in Kabul. Been reading reports comparing this to the fall of Saigon.

    Breaking news is reporting:
Afghanistan's president Ghani is relinquishing power. Interim "government" led by the Taliban to be formed.

Folks can sit around blaming Biden, blaming Trump, but right now we have American troops there and they could be overrun in a matter of hours.

IMO if the Taliban harms one US soldier as Goldwater said "bomb them back to the stone age" Oh crap that won't work they never left the stone age.

Remember Iran in the last year of Carter's Presidency. Expect a slaughter followed by hostages. I will be extremely grateful to be wrong.

I really have no sympathy for the Afghan people they lived under the Taliban and were well equipped by us yet they would not fight for their own freedom. My sons friend joined the army and served 2 tours over there and said they basically would not fight or deserted. Sounds just like the South Vietnamese army cut and run.
