    Exerpt from Healthline:
For people who are less active, getting extra sugar and sodium throughout the day isn’t necessary or recommended. The extra calories from a sports drink could contribute to weight gain. The extra sodium could increase the risk of high blood pressure over time.

Gatorade’s low-calorie version, G2, substitutes acesulfame and sucralosefor sugar. G2 contains 40 calories for every 16 ounces, which is fewer than half the calories of regular Gatorade. Research on the long-term safety of these artificial sweeteners is ongoing, but not yet conclusive.

Also of importance to note is that Gatorade contains food dyes, such as Red No. 40, Blue No. 1, and Yellow No. 5. These artificial dyes are derived from petroleum and may increase the risk of hyperactivity in children. They’ve also been linked to cancer.

IMHO A quarter teaspoon of table salt in a glass of water would provide nearly the same benefit...without artificial sweetners or food coloring. Want protein? Eat a steak ;)

Emergency's do happen and my experience was a need to get a cow back in and repair a fence to keep the others from being out as soon as I turned my back.

I had plenty of water on hand and need to watch my sugar and even pouring water over my body was too late as electrolytes and fluids needed to be replaced by IV bag.

Emergency use only not a daily intake.

The body can need an amazing amount of protein after chasing cattle and repairing a "walked down fence" of some 30 feet.

I was "out" laying on the ground unable to walk. Not a good thing in Texas heat and 95% humidity.

Getting a cow, steer or bull back in that does not want to go back where it belongs, is probably one of the most high intensity workouts one can endure. It does not help that they always seem to choose the hottest most humid days, to most bitter cold days, or the wettest mud up to your knees days to make their escapes. Then it only gets worse depending on how far the escapee decides to wander and how rough of terrain they choose to wander through. After several hours or a long full day getting one back in, the body is shot yer arms and legs feel like rubber bands, the head gets all swimmy and you are wet from sweat in places you didn't even know you had places. I keep a packet of salt and sugar mix in my little cattle chasing pack that I can dump in my canteen and shake up and a couple bottles of gatorade. Gotta know when you are getting to the point of needing it and then take a sit and have drink of it. It ain't no fun waking up face down in the dirt disoriented and wandering hmmm how did I get here??? Dehydration and the Electrolytes getting out of willy wack sneaks up on you as a bonus. You feel fine and strong until you don't.

And there is always that *ONE*

Been close, never had to go to the ER and it takes a while (days) to get over it. Working on the farm/yard and Civil War re-enactments increase my need for water and electrolytes...drink enough (gallon or more) and my kidneys might keep working.

Today at 92 degrees I had to load cattle, I took 20 ounces of Gator Aid Zero before going outside.
Felt Good and was able to sweat, shirt was soaked, recovered promptly in the AC House.

Shipped 28 head out today and now able to bring in some help to drill the rock for post to repair a fence section.

Money in, money out improves life, what could be better?
