Good brass usually, ugly as he##, they anneal the neck which discolors the case, and they don't tumble it afterwards as near as I have ever been able to figure out. In my mind that is a plus as the case is easier to reload and doesn't need to be done again for a while. Now if it were just 30-06 and not 7.62 by 51 I would be really happy. Fired in a single shot Handi rifle and reloaded with a Lee loader that only resizes the neck and redoing the annealing once in a while, they seem to last forever.

Lee Loader Reloading Kits are Perfect for Beginners and Survival Kits

I have picked up the Lee kits for $5 at yard sales. Take a while to get used to but load light, use cast bullets, and it is both a skill and takes time. The days of buying surplus IMR4895 for $8 a pound in 8 lb cans is long gone. One can, 8 lbs, would load about 1200 rounds and at the time it was about $2.50 a box for primers and you could scrounge the lead. That was 40 years ago.

The one I use is 50 years old, bought at the factory which was in Mass at the time and wood stock etc. Man who made it at the time, picked thru 10 or so for me, then spent 20 min fine tuning it for me. Old school and odd ball cartridge at the time 7.62 by 51, but I love it. Load it light for target, deer small here and distances short so light load for that as well. Not fast but I have no doubt it will work just fine in another 150 years if kept clean and oiled.

Side note, mil cases are usually a little thicker, if you reload you should know that, but powder load for mil case is slightly different than for civilian cases, used to say it was because of use in machine guns, don't know if that was true or not.

Yup, seldom do you ever get a second chance at a deer as one shot and they are gone.

Also starting to see popular ammo in PSA's daily deals. Prices aren't back to "normal", but definitely below the going rate out here.

I had picked up what I thought was once fired 308 brass at the range several weeks ago.
Started separating the different pieces of brass only to discover the stuff was Berdan primed.
    I chunked it all.

Converting berdan cases is a bit time consuming but if that's all you have it can be life saving.
