President’s proclamation, another stupid move aka Old dum dum blows it again with latest statement.

Walter Mondale’s family has stated interment will occur in September?????



"My interpretation- public buildings and grounds are owned by taxpayers. The American Legion Building is not owned by the Taxpayers. It belongs to Post 240. Same for The cemeteries. City deeded the fields of Honor to Post 240. Flag has been at Half Staff at Post 240 Field of Honor for a week. Post 240 has paid its respect to Walter Mondale and would not be at odds with the proclamation by hoisting the Flag to full staff today. For a President to issue a proclamation that would have flags at half staff to September is in my mind disrespectful to many noted citizens of this great country that did not receive the same respect. I guess he and his staff didn’t check with the family??? "



President’s proclamation

As a remark of respect for Walter Mondale and his life of service to our Nation, I hereby order, by the authority vested in me by the Constitution and laws of the United States of America, including section 7 of title 4, United States Code, that the flag of the United States shall be flown at half-staff at the White House and on all public buildings and grounds, at all military posts and naval stations, and on all naval vessels of the Federal Government in the District of Columbia and throughout the United States and its Territories and possessions until sunset, on the day of interment. I also direct that the flag shall be flown at half-staff for the same period at all United States embassies, legations, consular offices, and other facilities abroad, including all military facilities and naval vessels and stations.



IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-one, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and forty-fifth.

 

Seems the flag has been flying at half staff more than at full staff lately. IMO it should be at half staff and upside down for our dying country

 

Nah...this can't be right, someone made a mistake (probably that idiot we have as a president) and it will get sorted out in the wash...can't be right.

A memorial service is not a funeral!

This is all about control and politics.

And as a way to present politicians as "special people" to be honored over all others.

Walter Mondale qualifies for burial at Arlington National Cemetery, and their back-log for burial is up to a year. That could certainly account for the delay.

 

I'll buy that thought, but half staff flags while waiting is beyond reasonable.

 

Normal honors are ten days for VP and 30 days for President. I can see ten days following his death and then on the actual day of interment. That's not what the proclamation says, even if that's what was intended.

 

There's a lot of flags flying upside down in this state. The people know the US is under attack and in massive distress.

 

And not legal.
