Scored 2 boxes of Remington 00 buckshot at Academy yesterday. They had a lot of new production shotshell behind the counter. Mostly birdshot but it was there. I'm still waiting for pistol ammo which should be coming out soon followed by rifle. It's a good sign.
A lot of major rifle and pistol calibres are hitting the shelves across Mississippi as well as Federal and CCI primers.
The local shop got 10k rounds of PMC .223 in for the low cost of $21.99 per box of 20 and a 10 box limit. Other rounds and shot shells were scarce though. I heard they got a case of .300 mags, CCI .22LR Mini Mags and .22 Mags in. Thus I was there getting the 2 box limit on those 3. Figure one can never have too many .300mags (Remington BTW) and .22 Mags have been as rare as Chicken teeth for a long time now. The .22LR were just bonus material. Owner did say he was expecting a big order of Remington Handgun ammo next Wednesday.
Yes, they did, but the Ammo was sold before that and it was restructured and returned to production early this year.. They are now filling the production PipeLine...
Zero ammo of any brand or any quality out here! It's like the vacuum of space, the state everyone forgets in between Komifornia and Warshington always gets forgotted!
Rural King has been getting lots of ammo lately. Maybe this is the beginning of the beginning of the end of this shortage!
As Churchill stated.... “ This is not the beginning of the end, or even the end of the beginning, but the beginning, of the Beginning of the end...”. If we are lucky...
How many or what percentage would you guesstamate will be caught again with their pants down in lets say 2023?
My prediction is more ammo, bullets, primers, brass, less powder. Because I don't think Remington makes their own powder?
Got an old box of Remington shotshells. On the side of the box it reads Dupont. My guess is they supply powder to Remington.
Why make your own powder when you can get someone else to do for you...and assume the risk of blowing a powder mill to kingdom come! Dupont has been in the business for years...about 200 years!
I made a run of my RK triangle yesterday (Benton, Marion and Harrisburg) all 3 gun barns reported they are indeed getting considerably more ammo in over the last three weeks. All also reported that if they get 30,000 rounds in it is sold out within 8 hours of arrival, even with 2 box limits. LOL I was on a Mission to score one of those $139 super cheap junk Pulsar push mowers. Started the run in Benton and of course did not find them until I got to Marion on the last stop. Hehe trouble with making the Triangle run is I spend too much money on the trip, score another Springfield AR-10 at one, another pair of Rock Island 200 .38s at another and the Mower, a big dewalt side grinder and 20 gallons of oil and 30 gallons hydraulic at the last....... And now have to make the triangle run again on Wednesday afternoon to pick up the guns. Call it the triangle run because its a triangle on the map and I am pretty much dead center between all 3. I do like Harrisburg the best though it is comparable both in size and inventory with the Mattoon Big Store and there is a decent size TSC a block away that usually has IT if RK does not.
Bite your tongue! Actually, I have been in the local Tractor Supply and I have to admit it was nice... it was clean, orderly, the shelves were stocked and everything was priced! There was just one thing missing....customers. Rural King had more people waiting to use the restrooms than Tractor Supply had in the entire store.
So did dupont just stop making IMR smokeless while the Remington ammo factory was closed? I haven't hardly seen any IMR for sale.
The big thing I hit TSC for are chainsaw chains, they carry Husq and thus chains and the 24" chains are hard to score any place else locally. When RK took up Stihl and dumped Husq they lost my chainsaw and supplies business The other thing is TSC is still primarily a Farm Store, where RK has evolved into more of a Walmart kind of structure........ which I guess was to be expected when they went on a big hire the Walmart Management 8-9 years back. And finally if you need say a barbed wire unroller and neither RK or Tdc have one in stock...... TSC can have it in hand or at yer door step in about 3-4 days time. RK runs 3-4 weeks if ever to get it in store. And RK wins overall because Prices are usually 10%-30% less at RK for the same things at TSC.
