Original shop/barn building, built 1983. First structure on the place. 24'x36'. Tore off the roof, added 50' of concrete out to the left and this was Shop V2.0 around 1995 Last summer after some siding replaced, new paint, solar addition. I put an underfloor dust collection system in the shop when I added on the new part about 25 years ago. 9" main pipe out of sch40 steel runs under the concrete and outside to 17" fan connected to a 3hp electric motor (Oneida Air Systems). For all that time, I simply let it blow out in the yard and move with the tractor bucket when it got big enough. Little shop improvement project. Decided to build a collection 'house' for it, keeping it dry so I can use it for chicken bedding or whatever. Had a concrete truck here for some other stuff, so poured a 10'x8' deep slab, laid two block walls on it with one of them having a sheet metal pipe extension off the blower thru the wall. Got a roof started, will finish it up and enclose the stud sides and build a couple swinging door for the front. Should keep the dust dry and in a handy place to scoop it out of.
Everything TnAndy does is nothing short of first class. Wish I had that level of construction skills. I draw a line on a 2x4 using a square, cut it, and the cut ends up corrugated or off at some oddball angle every time. Finally, late last year, I sprung for one of those powered miter / chop type circular saw thingys.
