The Big Red Thunder Chicken is at Fred's getting a complete rebuild from the hubs up. Replacing the Rockwell with a 5 speed. Same Long Block Cummins total rebuild on the engine, new rear end with better ratios, New Springs and hangers, total replacement of the front end and suspension, high performance turbo and injectors....... LOL new steering box to lose the 4" of slop in the wheel. Nothing cosmetic to the Body Red has earned his scars. All total and all parts FINALLY in Fred needs about 6 weeks now to put it all back together and get it fine tuned........ $29,470 is what Fred is telling the final cost for everything is what I owe him, Pretty Good price IMO for a virtually Brand New Thunder Chicken. Anything comparable to Red in the new category would start at around $70,000 and would be about 70% of the Truck Red is. Not sure how I feel about going from that Rockwell straight 7 down to a 5 speed...... Might love it and I might hate it either way I am going to take a while getting in the habit of shifting it. Oh yeah and replaced the wiring harness that kept catching on fire LOL. Hehe Bought Red with 1k miles on him new in 2001 and worked him hard to 2021 and now spending more on making him new again than I paid for him new. But I will be driving Red until at least 2041. Kind of goes without saying but I really like my Truck

Red has never been towed but he has towed a lot of others. LOL even that 14x70 old mobile home. Mobile home is gone now but Red pulled it 25 miles on back roads and parked it there.
