The difficulty of moving as a prepper

My wife and I both lost our jobs because of the commie virus shutdown and could not afford to stay in NJ without income. Plus NJ was a viral hotbed and I hate the taxes and politics there. And we had a place to run to and hide. As a Christian I was blown away by the open doors God put before us. I now live in an income tax free state with a much nicer climate. My son living five minutes away is a real plus. BUT, we had to move. And as a long term prepper/stacker I had accumulated a lot of heavy stuff. (I bought silver for $3.00 an ounce and bought my first superpail in 2009). Several tons of stuff. One thing that really came in handy and was not a big problem to get rid of was my nickel collection. The bank was happy to take them, what with the coin shortage and the cash came in really handy. I had over 3300 pounds and I did not want to move them! 60 superpails weighs over 2500 pounds. I had to make two trips, with volume being as big an issue as weight. A few years back I started thinking about weight and rotated into freeze dried food for long term storage. But not nearly fast enough. I gave sold some stuff, including ammo (also very heavy), gave stuff away, and brought hundreds of pounds to the curb. Stuff like 200 pounds of salt. SO I encourage you stackers and preppers to think about having to move with all your gear, guns, #10 cans, and pails, in addition to your furniture and regular household items. God bless us all! PS: If anyone wants to buy a E-350 van (utility body) and a 14' V-nose I think I am done with them.

Well with silver $28 an ounce now is a great time to get dealer prices. Also the big online retailers were sold out a few days ago.

I moved about nine years ago and ammo was the worst to move with canned goods next.
Moving silver wasn't a problem unless pocket change counts.

We moved up to the farm from the house sold in town in 1983. It involved maybe 6-7 pickup truck loads altogether. It would take a fleet of Mayflower vans today. I ain't going anywhere, but the estate sale will be epic. :D

I moved a year + ago to our new AO.
I used the opportunity to update our food stores and get rid of old stuff, that I was hanging onto for whatever reason.
It was humorous to hear the mover gripping over the heavy cases.... they did not know they were full of ammo. ;)
I moved a lot of excess lumber and assorted chit that the Mrs disagreed with.... but we have used up most of it with the new home remodel work we are involved in.
We moved from a big two story house to a 1 story rambler on acreage.... the dream marches on..... :D

So , what ya asking for the trailer ,, and what state did you land in . Not sure it would be worth it for me to travel to much of a distance to pick it up ,, depending on what you're asking for it.

Family has been here for 100 years and we're NOT going anywhere! That is why I don't have a BOV or BOB. And yes, if there was to be an estate sale it would be surprising...to say the least.

The trailer is in Tennessee in my son's driveway. Near Nashville. $4900. But I really wanted to sell them as package. I am in no hurry, we are sitting on a nice nest egg from the sale of our NJ house.

When I’ve moved we generally move all our own preps before the movers get there.

I hold precious metals as an insurance policy. The way the Federal Reserve is diluting the money supply inflation is inevitable. But that is the topic for a different thread.

No, 2004 gas V8 with a check engine light on. I need to fix that if I am going to register it in TN. Bad O2 sensor my NJ mechanic told me, but he did not have time to fix it before I left. I did just put a new cat and plugs into it, along with a 10,000# hitch and a brake controller. My son has this fantasy about using it for his job, but it only gets 10 MPG with a load in it. Plus insurance is expensive.

ditch witch I do stupid crap, so you don't have to

When I got married I sold my farm and moved to a new house with the Mr. It was a huge pain in the butt. Had a 16 ft stock trailer and my long bed pickup loaded to the ceiling with 5 gallon buckets and 55 gallon drums. Neighbors probably thought a terrorist was moving in.

I am looking at relocating in the next year. I started getting ready by boxing all of the replacement supplys and them told the wife to stop replacing stuff in the pantry and just put the money aside. I like buckets for storage so they have baling twine handle and are easy to move. I always figured I might have to run so set it up to be moved quickly.

We move all of our PM's, weap's and such before the movers came in.
They had no idea what was located in the cases and crates they moved. ;)

I’ma make one last move in less than 5 years. I have a solid plan in place I think. One trip a day for a few weeks, low stress is best for Me/at. Nobody touches my stuff or my feet. There’s the Lineman museum, my Lincoln Logs and Tinker Toys...........
