"I’ll begin with a note of warning for those who would delve into, or recommend sophisticated radio equipment. The learning curve can be steep, and it requires a significant investment of time to become competent. I recommend using the “Keep, Simple, Stupid” (K.I.S.S.) principle. The apocryphal originator of the K.I.S.S. principle was no simpleton. He was the aircraft design genius Kelly Johnson, and we should heed the advice. It is likely that simple-to-use equipment is the best choice for most."

Ah, the highly touted but often wrong tunnel rabbit crap...again.

The suggestions to use out of band transmissions because they won't be noticed is utter bunk...any hick with an sdr dongle and a homebrew yagi can df you...
Oh, the comments...some are downright hilarious.

    Thanks for the laughs!

"I’ll begin with a note of warning for those who would delve into, or recommend sophisticated radio equipment." >> I believe this was specifically aimed at YOU - think about it

Your reports were misdirected, in that the negative commentary referred to Survival Blog, a noted source of frequent bum dope. Since you chose to rise to what you think was a personal insult or two tho' they were not, you've earned a warning for violation of CoC item 1.
Due to the unnecessary and testy language, thread is locked.

The OP & Tunnel Rabbit make good points, as far as they go.. Where they miss is for those folks that get into the tech side, and they don’t acknowledge that the Beldon 9913 Coax preDates all the LMR Coax Cables by a decade or two... I have been using 9913 for decades, in Alaska, and it is my Goto Cable up thru 900Mhz..Needs no fancy Crimp-on Connectors, you can use standard PL-259s for HF & VHF, and Standard Compression N Connectors thru 900Mhz.. if you know how to install them...
