"The 185-year reign for Colt as a uniquely American company is over after the gun manufacturer announced it was bought this week by a European competitor.

Czech firearms company Ceska Zbrojovka Group purchased the company for $220 million in cash and stock — and ended an American tradition in doing so."

Could it be Colt sees the hand writing on the wall with the Bidumb potential gun grab?

I think we'll be seeing a lot of gun manufacturers getting sued under this admin. Mebbe the folks at Colt decided better to sell today than get sued to oblivion tomorrow. I'm just spitballing here, IDK.

I think it will be good for not only quality, but innovation as well. I think it’s a better move than Chrysler being bought by the French.

CZ tried to add an amendment to their constitution similar to our 2A. Failed twice, second time by 1 vote. The EU leans on them pretty hard. That's the problem for those little eastern European countries. They're surrounded by control freaks.

I have a couple ladies that I work with that grew up under communism and experienced some pretty rough stuff. They are both scared crapless about what is going on here.

Everyone should be. I spent half my life obsessed with learning about the dark side of humanity, first with abnormal psych, then serial killers, finally graduating to murderous regimes. Everyone today focuses on Hitler, to a lesser extent Stalin. Mao, Pol Pot, Amin, etc, barely get a mention, but their names are all known for the most part.

But what never gets a mention is the civilian population who drove it, the average citizens who gleefully turned in family members and beat neighbors and were praised and rewarded for it. We're there now. Kids turning in family just for being in DC on the 6th and getting massive GoFundMe payouts for it as well as praise from social media and MSM. "Anti-Racists" beating elderly people in the streets and feeling so secure in their immunity that they post video of it for all to see. Keyboard Karens who screenshot "mean tweets" then track down the person's job and send the tweets and demands for firing to the head of the company. Companies so cowed they comply, firing people and then proudly pointing to themselves as heros of diversity and inclusion.

Back to the OP.... Colt has sold out. Place your bets now on which manufacturer will be next.

Ironic how those who experience communism are scared to death we are going down that road and rightly so and those who know nothing about the reality of communism embrace it. My fathers 2nd wife (past away) was a Cuban refugee from Castros Cuba believe me she had no love of communism. If we could only send our home grown brain washed youth to live in Cuba for a year they surely would change their tune.

Colt arrogantly priced themselves out. CZ products are known quantities, and not bad. I don't see a downside to the sale, even if CZ simply lifts the Colt ideas that are good and lets the brand die.

Eh I worded "sold out" wrong. I just meant they sold the farm, not "them cowards sold out!".

Colt has basically been run by the bankers and had quality control and financial problems for years. With a new regime in Washington or a retread of the old, and half of the ads on TV being sponsored by at least semi crooked lawyers, the attempt by the NRA to preserve some of its assets is just the first step in many industries to limit their liability. With class action lawsuits and shopping for favorable courts, no company is safe anymore and no insurance company will touch insuring them with multi billion settlements in weird jurisdictions where the lawyers didn't prove that the product actually caused harm. Will they produce guns, probably, will they be made in the US, very doubtful, will there be any research or new models, most likely not. Expect to see the "New Colts" to be reproductions made overseas like the imported cap and ball etc guns, but with a legal Colt stamp on them.

I doubt if there will be an American Gun Company left in the USA in another 10 years. If Buydon and company allow lawsuits in the firearms industry, some court in New York or California will award a billion dollars to some grieving widow whose husband used a firearm to commit suicide and tie up the companies assets while it goes thru the court system, even if the gun company wins, they will most likely be ruined by lack of capital or the inability to insure their product. Heads the anti gunners win, tails, you lose. The 2020 election may have been stolen fair and square and the left's control of the MSM, may also have changed our society into some new social compact that may or may not destroy us as a nation and will change our capitalistic system in such a way that I have no idea what will be the outcome.

Colt was addicted to fat cat gov't .mil contracts.

When the FedGov went elsewhere (and ask who paid off whom) they could not compete with small shops for classic arms (M4gery, M1911, etc)

Mostly killed by excessive labor costs.

Oh well, in a capitalist society evolution is needed to survive... In a socialist society, all one needs is 'connections' (and a steady stream of tax dough)

And if they quit producing them over her,, they'll make import taxes so high, they won't be worth buying,, or they won't let them import at all. On the upside,, your Colt just doubled in price.

It's coming. He did some chest pounding today and suing firearm manufacturers is part of his plan.
