James Randi, Magician Who Debunked Paranormal Claims, Dies at 92 I for one really liked this guy, exposing fakes and frauds. What a great time to be a skeptic 2020/2021. I’ve posted about dowsing before and it got quite a bit of action, I’m personally not a believer but....I did have a very peculiar dream last night. One I’ll never ever forget. Post about related subjects or nah. Always call 811.
On dowsing: I was sent to Underground Locating 101 awhile back. The gentleman teaching was great. Dressed in Camo, hunted, fished and a leading expert in his field. He mentioned getting muzzled in Australia about firearm chat or etc etc, they sure liked him otherwise. (Isn’t freedom great, while it lasts) No muzzling in Central Washington. Anyway he was very polite about the dowsing subject which is brought up in every single class. His response was “I’m not in touch with that whatsoever.” I did learn some cool tricks using a machine, the rods are reserved for gags. They work great with prior knowledge and a subtle mark with my boot. Lol.
Old man Dan Blankenship was a dowser, His son chicken-wing Ed will tell you. Dad could dowse, I can't
Couldn't read the whole article,, said i hadbto subscribe. And i aint doin it. I can't stand all of this information gathering from these places. He sounded like an interesting individual,, never heard of him. RIP sir.
Never believed in dowsing myself....UNTILL my bro had ME try it. Gave me two wires bent at 90 deg. Had me walk across an area he knew had buried wires underneath (I didn't). Sure 'nuf the wires swung together as I crossed the buried lines. Surprised the H**l out of me.
James Randi - Wikipedia Sorry about that. Try this if you’re interested. Randi wasn’t for everyone but his heart was in the right place I believe. Especially when scoundrels were taking other people’s money.
well... not too get too deep into this.... there is a guy in northern idaho that all the well drillers use. He can tell you the best location and depth to water dousing.... the well drillers say he's accurate within 2-5 ft. believe, dont believe, im all about the results.
I find this topic amazing. I honest did not believe it until I witness it myself this past summer and even then I did all sorts of things thinking it was a trick. I blindfolded the guy, made him put on boots with heavy rubber soles, everything I could think of... I don't know how it works but I am convinced it works. The most recent proof was a friend who giving the insanity of recent times sold his place to a Californian escapee and moved to the his 20 acres bugout property, built his house, garage and...dug his well. The Witcher told him "Well, there's water there and a lot of it but it's deep." Turned out at 450 feet they hit, 40 gpm natural spring. EDIT: I'm with Ganado on this, I can't explain it, I've tried but I know it works.
I could spend all day talking about dowsing, so I don't. Some dowsers use a pendulum and a map. Different strokes for different blokes. I read about a pickup that disappeared one winter, way up Nawth. Two guys in it. Vanished without a trace. A dowser heah in the Deep South read a news article, and dowsed for the truck. He got a hit, and gave the local police a tip. Claimed he knew exactly where the truck was: It was in the local lake, which freezes over in the winter. The drivers had made a wrong turn, driven out on the ice, and fallen through. They blew him off, but he was persistent. Finally the cops said they'd take him out on a boat to find the truck at his expense. And they'd bring along a diver. just to keep him honest. They went out on the water. The guy is standing in the bow of the boat, dowsing his map and telling them where to go. Finally, he tells them to throw the anchor overboard RIGHT NOW, and stop engines. The diver went down and found the anchor in the bed of the missing truck. Far too deep to see. They pulled the anchor up and threw it back over the side several times. Even being on top of the truck, they only hit the bed 25% of the time. But it was all coincidence, of course. Google the story if you find it interesting.
Sad to hear the passing of James Randi. On water dowsing it's likely that it's a way to allow the subconscious mind to interact with the conscious mind. At least that's for those who believe and aren't working a con.
I’d like to set up a testing site and study the results. I’m very confident dowsing doesn’t locate underground power like some believe. I certainly wouldn’t trust the marks using that method, nope.
Some guys swear the machine doesn’t work for them. Turns out it’s operator error in most cases. I was going to set up a testing field for all of our equipment, keep it calibrated. Then managers started butting their noses in, I lost interest quickly. Maybe I re-think it now.
I’m more accurate locating power lines, especially when they’re overhead. “I think that’s a power line right up there, or cable television!”
We had a job yesterday where I had located the power line. I was fairly confident I was right on it and had nailed the depth. I painted 2 foot 7 near our dig. (We never give out depths to contractors) When I arrived I was happy to know my marks were right on. I asked about depth and dude says “31 inches.” I’m like “Huh?” Then I realize, 2 foot 7. Idiot. Nailed it b@tches! Lol. I’m a Warlock!
James Randi on dowsing. I’m not really interested in debunking necessarily, I find the topic interesting.
