    Jeep...Just Empty Every Pocket...lol
New ones aren't worth diddley...nothing but a name plate stuck on a pile of garbage. Come on...electric power steering rack located under the front bumper, but in front of the crossmember? First place to get hit off-road. The rest of the vehicle isn't designed any better.

A '40s or '50s vintage would be good...for local transport.

Good friend had a CJ3A that had been sitting in a field for decades. Infested with wasps, locked up engine...a teenager's delight. Oil was clean, so pulled off the head, knocked the heavy rust off and soaked the cylinders for a couple weeks...engine freed up. Spray painted the old head gasket, reassembled and had a running 4x4 to play with, and a pto driven winch to boot! You are not going to do that with newer models...and the 6 cylinder heads are bad for warping and cracking if overheated.

I like jeeps. Easy to modify and a large after market to choose parts from.

There’s a house in our service territory that has 3 new Jeep’s with Tranont on the side. Of course I thought to myself “something stinks!” Evidently Jeep works with this MLM company that is a known scam. (Well approximately 1 percent of people involved make money) I’m not sure if this is another reason not to buy Jeep but......:D

If I had the time and money , I'd be interested in these ,, I know a guy here , used to live in England , and shipped a Yota diesel back here when he moved here , say's it's one of the best vehicles he's had . He also has a diesel jeep that him and his son is doing a complete overhaul on .

......I believe they have to be over 25years (or 30) old. It’s easier to source older LHD versions from parts of Africa and the Middle East than doing a LHD conversion to one of our. I am sure it has been done though. The US has received many of if the same models as here albeit with a petrol engine. You never did get the 70Series though (probably the toughest of the lot). Australia and the Middle East remain the almost exclusive markets for these.

Had an 82’ (I think) Datsun diesel truck. Loved driving her, but the electrical problems drove me nuts. That little 2.2 got 45 MPG when I could cruise under 50mph. Wish I could get something similar nowadays.

One of the vehicles I learned to drive on was the Jeep's precursor Willys. That truck and I saw a lot of fun times on the back roads of our country town - I didn't have a license yet but the Willys had Farm plates so I could drive on local roads. Don't know if the concept of "Farm Plates" still exist but most of the kids in our town did the same. And many of us had firearms in an inside rack. Kids would probably be in federal prison now if they tried that

Ive got a 88 model nissan 4x4 pickup , with a bad motor. ive thought of trying to install a 20+ hp diesel motor from a small compact tractor ,, maybe even add a turbo on it . Anyone have any info on doing something like this ?? I haven't looked into it to much as work has been the priority for a while. But 1 of my concerns was connecting the engine to the tranny and transfer case. It is a manual 5 speed. I'm not sure how to figure out the rpm to speed ratios for the existing trans , and what the speed of the truck would be with the low rpm's of the motor , with the stock gearing in the factory trans/ 4x4 case , and ratios of the axles. All of that is well above my paygrade.
