After my garden was done for the year, I tilled it up, raked it flat, spread a nice thick layer of compost mixture on it, tilled it in, raked it flat, and scattered 4-5 pounds of Clover seeds on it so it won't wash as much this winter!

Keep 'em coming guys, you're giving me new ideas. :D I've effectively doubled my garden space for next year, tripled if I get the rest of these wicking buckets and tubs and beds finished, so I'm looking for interesting things to grow.

Anyone ever tried a "Toothache Plant"? Supposed to have anesthetic qualities.

I'm just starting to get seed catalogs in the mail, so it might take a while for me to decide upon anything "new" to raise next year...I'll get back to y'all later.

In the early spring, I'll be tilling my clover into the ground to enriched my soil even more. As a bonus, while its growing it will choke down the grass & weeds that normally grow over the winter. Might freeze my tail off tilling the garden in early February, but hopefully unlike a couple years ago, we won't get rain the whole damn month again!!!

I got some from Wilhite called Sweet Pickle Pepper, but they don't show them now. Thinking they might have changed the name... these look like them. Sweetie Mix Pepper - WillhiteSeed.com

  13. I am trying tobacco, too. My husband is a smoker and I don't want to worry about shtf while he is going through withdrawal. It also makes an effective poison and can be useful in the garden.

I chop them up, drizzle some olive oil and seasonings on them, then roast them. They're also good roasted with carrots, and either served like that or pureed together for soup or mashed snips 'n carrots.

Actually started something new last year...waiting to see how the asparagus does in this area. Takes a few years to tell for certain.
