I’m seeing more and more aggressive folks on the road. MFer honked at me while I was turning down my road from a main arterial. It’s a 90 degree turn!! You can only take it so fast. I saw the same thing with my neighbor. He stopped, backed out and was going to chase the bastard down. He cooled down evidently and then proceeded down our road. I never got to ask him about it, boo. (Nice people. They hit my dog with their SUV when that dummy escaped) My daughter was turning LEFT on our road but waiting for oncoming traffic. Honk from behind!! These aren’t driving errors that deserve anything. Wtf is going on?! I have a couple more things to add as well if this thread takes off. *shakes my head* Oh yeah, Merry Christmas.
Rate yourself lucky, f you only have one, really bad Road Asshat... Here in Utah, they are as numerious as Pickup Trucks and SUVs... Running Red Lights, no Turn Signals, crossing multiple lanes with no Signal at high speeds, ect......
People are getting tense in general, I only go to Lowes and the gas station but I have seen people yelling at each other in Lowes 2 or 3 times over not wearing a mask. This week there was a guy walking around yelling at people who were not wearing masks telling them that he was going to have to take care of them in the emergency room. It was really bizarre, he was furious. Coincidentally, I had to run a yellow because the same guy was sitting through the green light and only went at the last minute. I walked by him a couple of times pointedly ignoring him but he wouldn't say anything to me. People in our town drive okay but in Lexington where all the libs live it is insane. They tailgate, run red lights, honk and drive like they are all on their way to the emergency room. I have seen people stop in the middle of a busy 6 lane road and wait for the light to turn red so they can try to turn left because they forgot to get in the turn lane. They seem to think whatever they are doing is extremely important.
With folks having been in Lockdown due to the Rona, and generally scared or pissed off due to our shit show elections, tempers have been flaring for the last 10 months! Folks are getting to the boiling point, and honestly, I'm not a bit surprised! When this all first went down, I took advantage and went running around getting things done, there were no crowds in the stores, and no traffic on the roads, got my old muscle car out a few times and tach'ed it out just to see if the 50 year old beast could still dance, Yup! Also got a bunch of flying in, strangely, the sky's were a lot less crowded with airliners, and the tower folks were a lot more polite then usual!
Not where I live, but if I head over to the city, people are more on edge than a nun in a whorehouse. Mostly passive aggressive crap like eternal stinkeyes and blocking aisles in stores for no good reason, but also a lot of obnoxious driving. Hardcore tailgating when they could easily go around, constantly changing speeds to keep you from changing into their lane. Some of that could be attributed to the current road construction but it's unusually high lately. Maybe they're mad at all the billboards up on the highway that say things like "Welcome To Texas! Don't Vote For What You Fled!"
Beyond my turn about an 1/8th of a mile is a stop sign to make the honking even more absurd. One question. Has something changed I’m not aware of? You pull up to an arterial, stops signs 2 ways. You are turning left. Across from you they’re going straight. What I’m used to is the person going straight has the right-of-way for as many vehicles that pull up. It sucks for the guy turning left but........If the straight guy just goes I’ll follow right behind him. They be waving and $hit. Just go for Pete’s sake! Oh, Merry Christmas. Lol.
I ride a motorcycle better than haldf the time when travelling. I see crazy dangerous this every day but have decided that if I get splattered by some nit-wit on his cell phone, it'll be over quicker on a bike.
Ill get pics of them this weekend when I head that way. There's several. This one was down south a tad... caught a world of hate on the news lol I don't think this is one of the Amarillo ones, same sentiment but the board looks different. Found it on reddit with lots of triggered lefties. It's Texas but they're saying "north Texas" which usually refers to DFW.
I haven't seen the excessive speeding that we had earlier in the year before the State Troopers got active again. What I see lately is likely lots of folks who don't live here passing through. What they do that annoys me is they all crawl along in the right lane of a four lane divided highway, exactly the same distance apart, and not one will move over into the left lane so I can turn onto the highway from a side road. It's not like they can't see me. We're flat-landers, and the two roads I get stuck at are visible to other drivers for a good mile. In the morning, the local going to work crew will see a car turning right from a side road and a whole line of cars will shift to the left lane to let them out. In the evening you just sit there and wait, and wait...and wait.
Sounds like my trip this AM. New roads intersecting with legacy roads and the fools behind you don't have a clue what to do and that a blind 90 degree turn onto a lane and half rural road best be done with caution. Made it home just fine and just ignored the sounds of some daddy's little girl expressing her desire to move me out of the way. Chill kid I been driving rural longer than that company what made your truck you're in has existed.
I work a very early shift to avoid traffic With luck, I can get from home to the parking lot without seeing anyone else.... Not worried about horn honkers I worry more about the druggies/meth-heads/drunks running out into the roadway...
Use to do that as a way to save gas and time on the Hwy. Made a deal with my boss that if I had to go to a remote site after work that I either left early or I waited 1 1/2 hours at the down town site, still in work mode, before I left for the remote site. After all it was going to cost me extra time to get home so it was his choice.
Reminds me of a story my buddy told me ,,,,, back in the 70's ,, my buddy had long hair. , was hitch hiking down the road,, a guy pulls over to pick him up,,,, he opens the door and gets in ,, the driver said ,, aww man ,, thought you was a chic ,,, they laughed ,,, cruised on down the road , tokin' on a doobie .
