I have aquired a Lazermax guide spring mounted lasersight ,, the battery pack is stuck inside the tube , does anyone know , If i drill a small hole in the back side of the battery . I could run a small screw into the battery and pull it out . Does anyone have any experience with these sights ? Am I going to blow myself up by drilling into a battery ? I think it is actually 3 small batteries in sequence in the tube , I have gotten one of them out . The battery is a small little pancake style battery 393 . The sight is in a Springfield XDM-40. Thanks for any help .

Weird, Only one of those I ever saw was in a 1911 and it took 2 wheat seed type 3v batteries in the back end!
seemed to be a slick idea, but I couldn't see an easy way to turn it on and off or get much battery life out of it!
    Not much help, but watching!

and the batteries were in there way too long... corrosion/rust locked em in maybe???

    try a neodymium magnet

neodymium magnets are extremely strong, please keep them away from yer granddaughter!!!!

they are very dangerous to infants, children and even adults.

dis is wut the batteries look like correct? [IMG]

If the magnet does not werk try one of these Weller WLSK200 Weller WLSK200 | JENSEN Tools + Supply

    or these https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LM2L50I/?tag=survivalmonke-20

plus WD-40 might help ya .. .. but check with the chemistry folks here .. .. [dunno] [dunno] if WD-40 would react badly with the batteries

do not use a drill, bad stuff and things could happen

Lasermax has one of the worst warranties out there. I had a customer return his 1911 Lasermax guide rod set up because when he replaced the batteries, it stopped working altogether. Contacted Lasermax and they told me it had to have been out of warranty since it was so old, even though I told them it had sat on a shelf at the gunshop for 12 years along with several others before selling. At first he said that I could send it in and they would sell the customer a new one at half price with the old one as a trade in. It wasn't until I started rattling off the models of several others still setting on the shelf that he stopped me and asked me to confirm that I had told him we had a Beretta Brigadier model. We did and he said he would fully warranty the 1911 model with the caveat that he would refer a customer to us that had been calling every week wanting to know when they would stock the Brigadier model again. The customer was the most annoying SOB, who wanted us to ship it to Maryland, discount it since it was old stock (even though he had been desperately looking for one), didn't want to pay tax or shipping, and complained that we didn't have a website. When I told him "If you don't want it, then no problem I'll put it back on the shelf", he quickly changed his tune.

Long story short, I like the compactness of the guide rod laser and how you don't have to buy a new style of holster, but the cost and durability is not worth it.

Yes sir Sec ,,, that's the batteries ,, I'll give them magnets a try ,,, I let a little Remington gun oil soak in for a while ,, hasn't seemed to help much .
@OldDude49 ,,,no sir ,, even if the laser sight is junk , the pistol itself is well worth the money I paid for it . And No ,, it's not a stolen weapon.
Thanks all ,, I'll keep working on it .

Evidently , the sight came from the dealer with a slide catch for the weapon ordered for , the slide catch that comes with the sight has a little lever on it that turns the laser on and off . When I got the thing , that was my question as well ,, how to turn it off and on .
