I ran across this recipe for seven can soup on the internet
and tried it. It was great to me and my wife said she would
eat it again (a real complement coming from her). The basic
ingredients are shelf stable and you can buy them in bulk.
Takes about 30 minutes to make but I let mine simmer in
a slow cooker for 4 hours.

Here is the link. I did not like the velveeta as it did not melt
well. I added graded cheddar as an optional topping instead.
Diced onion would also be good. It taste like fortified chili.

That looks a LOT like my taco Soup recipe. I don't use canned chili, but instead add either spiced hamburger or chicken, and cut back on the beans. It's cheaper, and more versatile that way.

Instead of velveeta, try adding a packet of powdered ranch dressing. Gives it a creamy flavor. Then add grated cheddar, monterey jack, pepper jack, or whatever your favorite cheese may be as a topping, like you said. I also add diced onion and sour cream as toppings, and serve with tortilla chips.

 

Exactly what I was thinking. Your taco soup and mine sound pretty much the same.

At the grocery store today, I saw 12 oz cans of Spam for $3.68. 20 oz cans of Dinty Moore beef stew for $2.18. While the Spam probably has more fat, which is important in a SHTF scenario, with the addition of a few cups of rice, I can feed more people at a lower cost with the stew.

 

We have picked up a couple cases of creamed soups that were on sale, sometimes it's nice to have something quick to cook with. Filled all of our diesel fuel cans and got the farm truck all filled and ready to go for winter today. We have been off in the MT.s. cutting fire wood and helping a friend get hay for their animals. We hauled 2 ton of hay to their place last Friday. They gave us a cord of wood. I have been making winter hats and etc. I am the go-fer, follow lifter for heavy logs and wedge hammer-er inner.

 

Still stocking LTS food as I can. Buying in bulk. Got more water jugs too, JIC. Ammo is good, though I did find 2,000 rounds of. 22LR I had forgot about, and was not in the usual stash location.

 

We use ranch dressing for many things. We use this. cheaper in the long run and they do put it on sale fairly often.

We opened a can of Bega cheese to check it out since I just bought a case of thirty-six.
Not my fave, sort of a cross between American and a very bland cheddar with a semi-dry texture.
I believe it will melt well and be just fine for cooking as well as acceptable enough with crackers.

So I guess we put up a case of cheez.

 

Cheese is like rosemary. Ya gotta have some in your stash even if it's not the best
