Now that price and advailable ammo are getting hard to find and then buy ,what caliber do you think best to own? Just about all .223,.357,.38 .45 acp and 9 mm is out of stock, even .Very little .22 lr. 7.62-39 is still listed as in stock. Mostly what’s left is the odd ball calibers. Most of the calibers that I still see in stock are the odd ones that I own and shoot.
    .22 tcm
    .32 swl,
    .32 hr mag
    .32-20
    .41 mag
    .45 lc
    .44 special
    .22 hornet
    12 ga small size shot
.30-30-308-270-243 ammo is still out there but getting harder to find.
My doctor who has money asked me for some 9mm and .44 mag as he couldn’t find any. I gave him a box of 9mm and .44mag. I told him no more. I wouldn’t be surprised if some revolver and pistol ammo did not reach did not reach $100.00 a box of fifty.

Yup. Lean times for ammo. Sometimes I get things right like ammo last year for my guns. But 300 BLK sub for that new thingy? forget it. I didn't anticipate that scratch I needed to itch. I have friends with the right reload equipment but even getting primers is tuff. I decided to just not go to the range much and wait this big mess coming out. Or not.

...all I really want is 90 rounds... for now... I'm lying... I want more than that.

During the last panic I decided that if prices went down I'd stock up. And I did, which is why I haven't gone in to check my local sporting goods stores to see what is and isn't in stock. The two that stood out during the previous panic (when we thought Hillary would be President) are 7mm Remington Magnum and 40 S&W. Shelves were stocked full of them.

Right now I'm buying reloading components as I see good deals. Just bought ~1200 once fired lake city 7.62 for my Mk 319
project. Bullets and powder are aout there, but primers and new brass? Fuggitaboudit. Glad I'm well stocked on those.

Been grabbing as I see it! Found a bunch of new brass for various large rifles, and traded a metric shit load of .45 Colt brass for some of the harder to find stuff I wanted to bulk up on! Guy gave me a buck a piece for .45/70 range brass I had gathered and forgot about, and I found starline brass for the .500 Jeffrey's so that worked out well! Been wanting more brass for that one for way longer then I should have waited, so now I have 500 pieces of it, plus a pickup load of Primers, Powders, and bullets!

I know..... But, even #4 bird shot at 10 feet will leave a nasty mark. Personally, at this point; you get what you can get.

Head shots to the face of an oncoming baddy will cause hesheit regrets for some little while. #8 will penetrate an eyelid readily at almost any range.

Yeah the 45cult doesnt need to buy commercial ammo, they manufacture their own ammo like in home made garage factories.

I already have gotten juat about $2 a shot for factory HP 357 mag "self defense ammo".

22 and 12 gauge are the ways to go if you have a firearm that takes them.

Food for thought -- When I was putting together my gun collection I gave a lot of thought to the types of ammunition the firearms would take.

I'm NOT going to give out a full list of what I have but I will tell you that I can use both of the above ammunitions in the firearms that I do own. I also made it a priority to have the ability use both 223 and 556.

I had about 500 rounds of 44 mag that I gave to a friend from work because I don’t need it anymore. Not a caliber I enjoy.

Do you have a 44mag rifle?
44 in a long gun really tames that round.
I'm with you I would rather shoot the ruger mark4 with a silencer than the 44mag super Redhawk. My 44 loads are 180gr jacketed hole points over 30gr of H110, thr fire ball is spectacular in a 7.5 inch gun.

No I didn’t have a long gun for it. That probably would have worked. It was much to large for me to handle easily in a hand cannon. Anyone had any luck with those henry rifles? I like the look of them and was thinking about getting one.

Same here in Central Texas. I jave been thinking for getting a multi cavity #4 mold so I can melt the light stuff and recast into something useful.

Except for zeroing two rifles, all my practice will be with air rifles until the foolishness is over.
