For the last 20+ years, I have been very nicely employed in a small town in SE NM. I hit retirement age a while back, full retirement age a few years ago. Around 7 years ago, Sweetie and I started looking at places in a town about 3 hours away, where we had doctors and friends. Almost 3 years ago, we found our dream place and managed to buy it. We've been living in the small town and going to our new place once or twice a month. I finally retired back in May, about a year sooner than I had planned due to medical issues, but God really wanted me here. We put our old place up for sale in May, and today we signed the paperwork to complete the sale! Yaaay! We are having a shrimp and small Wagyu rib eye steak dinner for both of us and for me, some Johnny Walker Green scotch to celebrate. Yaaaaayyyy!!
Three hours away from SE NM. I think you managed to get away from people. Way down south in Texas? that's an area I've considered.
