Sitting up here in N.E. Washington right now at work and theres some smoke in the air from the fires. It is pretty light, more like a fog across the mountains.

I was able to open the video. It looks real dry and fire could whip right across those fields, nothing to stop the embers.

Glad you are safe @Ura-Ki. Those winds took everyone by surprise. Problem IMO is that when it gets into suburban areas some of the folks have no clue what to do and put others in danger.

All those fields in that video below the farm got torched early this morning, fortunately, no structures were lost, and the fields were set to be burned anyway, so nothing was actually lost but a few power poles and a cell tower, no major loss there!

Ok, the official word is to back burn the rest of the fields between our farm all the way to Salem! So, were doing wet down ops around each and then burning off the stubble, this way, we can control each burn and save the structures! We have a team of about 25 farmers with tank rigs, so we're going to treat this like a grass land fire and get ahead of it!
The Guard and country/state oked the plans, so we're going in!

The farms south of 22 are going to follow our ops on their side, and if all goes well, we can get ahead of them, then circle back from the south and get this thing under control and then let it burn it's self out, otherwise, there is no stopping it!

FYI - the Clackamas County Fairgrounds in Canby are full up. LOTS of FB chatter today about people looking for places to house their livestock. If you are going to move them sooner is better than later, space is drying up fast!

I don't know where they moved them, not my problem! I had heard they might be going north, maybe they did, maybe they went to Dallas, IDK! Personally, I would have moved them to Dallas, it's closer and there are lots more areas for them!

We got about 1/4 of the burns complete on our side, going to keep at it till it's done! This complex has expanded by 48 square miles just today, and we're expecting it to go another 25+ tomorrow! Thankfully, the winds have started to die down to managable levels, so we might just get ahead of it!
Been running the Forwarders non stop now for 6 hours since we got the ok to go, going to be a long night!

Fires down here in SW Oregon are pretty bad. The towns of Talent and Phoenix got hit pretty hard. One of the fires is 7 miles from our house and there are level 3 evacuations in the area. Not planning on leaving unless forced to. Every Spring I cut fire breaks in the meadow in front of the house and have the trees in the back cut back to 40 yards away. Tired of this shit with the fires and next Spring going to get a sprinkler system for the roof. Already have gens setup to keep the well and booster pump going when the power goes out.

Evacuation area for us now ten miles down the road past my house. Don't expect to have to leave as of yet but am getting my truck ready to bolt just in case. I've been told conditions where my house guests have improved and they are looking to return home today not fat from @Ura-Ki 's family farm. I hope that bodes well for him as well.

I'm looking forward to getting back to our normal - all fires being set in Portland my Mostly Peaceful Inc..
