If you have interest in homebrew cnc, worth looking at for what didn't work for him. That would save a lot of money time, and effort. A lot of time in prep related tasks, knowing what doesn't work can be more important than what does.
I bought a "Kit" CNC plasma Cutting table, one of the best investments EVER. not only is it worth every penny, and it paid for it's self in no time flat, it's convertible, so It will do routing, laser cutting, or engraving, or even milling with the "Z" axis mods added to it! Wasn't cheap, the kit alone was $2500, and the supplies added almost another grand, but DAMN, the possibilities are endless!
No, what he lists in the article as far as I can figure out is what worked, he tried other things, unsupported pieces, etc and they did not work and he tells why. The perfect nc systems exist and are readily available, start at about $30,000 and go up to a million. Have ran some of them, will never afford to use one in a prep sense, lot to be said for a xyz setup as mentioned in previous post, not real rugged, not specialized, not real accurate, but can be used as a laser cutter, a router, a light milling machine, etc, and do many things that are usable to the average person.
