It has been a glorious silence. I haven't watched TV in years, but the car radio had been a daily thing before I switched cars. No radio now.

At first I felt lost, after two weeks I feel great. I still keep up on current events on the countless blogs I frequent daily, but I take that in small doses.

Without distractions, I've had time to take care of what matters.

I haven't watched television for about 10 years in my own home...and haven't listened to the steam powered wireless for a few years now. Can't say I miss it much. I listen a lot to music...and....read hard copy books and magazines.

You say that like it's a bad thing ;) SM is so much more interesting than the local uber conservative echo chambers. Corey Bernardi's Australian Conservative Party looked promising for a while until Bernardi pulled the life support plug out of it. Bernardi cites 'lack of political success' as he calls time on his breakaway party

I hadn't been to my favourite bookshop for some several months now...my debit card took a caning when I bought these books yesterday though. :D

I have time for reading, and fencing with my SM antagonists. ;)

People around me are always shocked when they learn I don't even have a TV and haven't had one for the past 15 years. With that said, I have to admit that my house is overflowing with books. A bibliophiles delight but the day will come when my daughter will hate me for her "inheritance" LOL

I haven't watched TV or listened to the radio in many years. I just don't care much for spin and opinion. I read, I browse, and I apply what I see to the sniff test.

I was jammin with a young guitar picker one night at a bluegrass festival, one of the best pickers I've ever heard. I asked him how he got to be so good? He said "well, I took a perfectly good TV and hauled it to the dump."

I would give up TV if not for the old westerns, often black and white, Mattlock, and Perry Mason. When the news comes on, I turn to something else and seldom watch TV. Much easier to use net and see what I want, do not use any of the social media, so I can't really comment on it. I tend to go down rabbit holes and find out 3 hours later that I have just finished the 4 th post on the SR71 engines or the 5 th of Scratchlines stories or some other SHTF stories. But then I still think Chuck Jaegers Flight Simulator in Dos is the best game I ever played so I guess I am beyond hope. While I may not agree with some people, at least in this forum there is no official line and I thank the moderators for the job they do in herding the cats. Being 82, I tend to fixed in my opinions and perhaps more vocal than I should be.

I like all of them old B&W westerns as well. My grandfather lived to be 93,, and I always respected, and mostly trusted his opinions,,,, so I hope you continue being vocal in your opinions,,, they are appreciated.

If I'm ever in another home, the first thing I see is the huge television entertainment center in the living room.
    Those people are strange.
The only things in my living room is some furniture, lighting, and a bookshelf. ;)
