I guess the future is here.
My understanding is that police departments around the nation are having very serious use of force discussions involving the perp having and using or threatening to use lasers on cops.
I know a guy in the inside and I await the conclusion of this discussion, I don't even think it has started for him yet.
I'm familiar with use of lasers in war zones, not that the a'lowha snack bar team ever really had any the possibility was there. On the individual level lasers were threat to eye sight or it could be attached to a gun. 5.56 or 9mm check anyone who points a laser at you.
On an expeditionary level the guy pointing a laser at you is either trying to laser range you or send you laser guided mystery package. In that case use gunships to put holes in the laser device and the guys radio or cell phone...
The military uses laser detectors since the range finders and guidance lasers are just about always invisible. Then they pop WP to obscure the laser and throw off any heat seeking stuff that anyone might try to send them and hopefully run like hell if possible or hide.
If someone points a laser at you and hypothetically you were able to WP their ass, they ain't gonna do it again.
But willy pete's special hot sauce is very hard to get.
We can get a hold of orange marine smoke mix by the bucket.
The no tech Mogadishu level version would be old tires and diesel fuel.
Also you can put a wide temperature differential between you and the laser that will also help scatter the beam such as if the laser guy aims the laser at you over a burning wall of tires.

What do you think of the whole laser situation?

    LASER - "non-lethal"

    40mikemike rubber bullet = "non-lethal"
    Sounds like a fair trade.

BTW - spray the around the asshat with auto pepper ball fire. Give the oppos some incentive to kick the guys ass for you...

IOW, I don't think the cops are using enough pepper ball or rubber 'buckshot'.

Blister agents like mustard gas are considered non lethal too, it's victims just die of infections later on or their lungs fill with fluid.

60 plus years ago saw some of first trials of fuel air explosives, that was the most impressive thing I ever saw, could kill you in a foxhole. God only knows what they have now. At my age, only solution is to stay totally out of it, or sing my death song, ain't going to defeat anyone no matter what I do.

Was looking at a you tube by a diesel engine builder, he had looked at a post on the net on improvised silencers, and then later bought several oil filters on the net. The local cops and homeland security showed up at his house and checked it out. He showed them the filters being used and the spares on the shelf and they left. No real answer as if they were satisfied or if he is on some watch list for the next twenty years. He seems to think that some program looking at the internet took the two different searches and kicked it out for a human to check on. Stay grey and I pray that it won't be necessary to be having boating accidents on our oil change supplies.

The present events prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that many laws are being selectively enforced and the cost of defending your self, even if totally innocent, can break you or get you locked up due to inadequate legal aid.

Laser for most is best used as a way to ID a perp with a way to aim carefully.

I guess I'm still old skool. These guys are purposely trying to maim these officers,, for life. Rubber bullets ,, pepper spray , CS gas ,,, under these circumstances,, I see nothing wrong with the old tried and true lead , jacketed rounds. [dunno]

    Use duckduckgo.
Although if Google thinks you are going to use it on cops it will likely find the best deal.

With the new use of numerical control machine tools, lasers are used to cut things accurately, seen them used in cutting plywood and thin metal, also used to fuse metal powders in 3 D printing of metal, as well as regular level type things. We live in a whole new world and what used to be sci fi in the movies is now ever day usage in manufacturing, but of course the idiots can also misuse it with very bad results.

Know of several people, mother in law for one, that had lasers used to stop excess blood vesicle growth in her eye to stop macular degeneration and saved her eye sight and it is used in a lot of other medical uses.

Went down the rabbit hole, some commercial lasers, not high powered military ones, will cut 1 in steel plate. Laser Cutting /?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI0I61kJKr6wIVAorICh0xtwO4EAMYAyAAEgIlwvD_BwE
