Oil was filled to the full mark and I didn't hit anything.

I have an older one of these that hadn't ran since about 2011. I put the fuel tank and carburetor assembly from this one on the old one and now it starts a lot easier.

Looks like the rod let go! Oooopsy!

Little paint, little bondo, little welding with a nickle in the stick, should be good as new!

Had that happen going up Red Hill in Hawaii, looked like the trail of smoke from a WWl Bi Plane. Lucky for me I brought over a Short Block to Paradise.

Most small engines are splash lubricated and any hill can cause a catastrophic failure.

Yup, true on horizontal shaft engines. Less true on vertical shaft machines like this one even if the piston skirts are flopping around in the oil sump due to severe tilt. (Anyone mowing with a push mower in that severe a slope is nuts. Thus spake me, ennyweigh.)

I'm sure mine will do that eventually. When I mow it sounds like trucks making passes at the mud bog. I've been thinking that if the 5 HP lets go I'll keep the AWD run behind mower deck, beef it up a little and plant a 12 HP engine on it. I'd only mow every other month then!

I mowed some of the deep grass in the back field tonight. I figured out what I look like when I get done.

That's odd, I think I've seen about 6 square feet of grass whenever I drive through New Mexico. It's kinda like seeing a snow mobile in Mississippi (and I did see one one for sale at Keesler AFB once though).

This is the more lush part of the state.
We get about 20 inches of rain on average so that really means anywhere between 4 and 34 inches and that's just what I have seen in 9 years.

I went to lowes looking for a riding mower blade drive belt. They were sold out of all but one riding mower, the most expensive one of course and all the gasoline powered push mowers were gone too.
All they had was a bunch of battery powered ones that probably suck and are double the price of the gas ones.
    Don't know if it's a regional shortage.
I was also looking on face book yard sale trying to get a cheap push mower just to have as a spare and any time someone would list one it would be gone immediately.

If it's not regional then it might be a good time to sell any running spare mowers you have.

I was happy to get a new rider from Lowe's this year. Only took they two weeks to actually find and deliver one since they sold more than they had on hand.

Real grass? I have all of the above, plus beach sand to get stuck in and eat away your blades. Wicked prickly pear that hides in the grass and horn toads that are rumored to be escapees from some neighbors back before things got so built up. Lots of stuff in my yard will make you bleed if you don't pay attention while you mow. Spanish Bayonet, Osage Orange, Prairie Crab Apple, Pear, wild rose and raspberry. I seldom get the yard done without shedding a little blood on all the pointy things out there.

If you want a real riding mower / garden tractor get a 400 or 500 series tractor. You want a hydro get one with an Eaton 1100 hydro. These tractors are built like a tank and taken care of they will outlast anything the box stores have x2

1994, I rarely use the sulky it has the 40 inch finish deck on it in the picture. I also have a snow blade, bush hog deck and a rotary plow.
I have a Troybuilt rider but rarely mow with it
