In my little town in north central Louisiana we have a Walmart and one little pawn shop so ammo is really hard to find now. Pawn shop has a little .45acp, and a few other rds like the .32swl,1 box .32-20, 4 box’s 44mag,.32 auto,44 special, very little buckshot and a right smart squirrel shot. Walmart has less than eight box’s each of .30-30,30-06,7mm mag,243,270,I box of 325 .22lr,4 box of and a few rat shot.100’s .22 lr I don’t believe it’s going to get any better. I’m going to Walmart this evening to get the 30-30 ammo and will go by the pawn shop for the 32-20 and 44 special. A democrat president could shut down the ammo makers and most people would be screwed big time. Better buy what you can while you can.
Nah, I'm not buying into inflated ammo prices, Should of had a sizable stash before any election year.....
Very little to none of the common ammunition... 5.56X45, 7.62X54, .30-06, .45Auto, 9mm, and .22LR all gone and hasn't been on the shelves for months. All of the odd stuff is available, though...
Went to Academy today, they did have some ammo. Got 2 boxes of 3030 and 2 boxes of 20 gauge. Other than that might slim pickings!
No real issues here with Rifle Ammo, but the common pistol calibers are long gone! Managed to score a few bricks of 9X18 Mak at a reasonable price, and some .32 Colt which I havn't seen a lot of in a while! Plenty of .22 LR, but with restrictions on amounts they will sell you per visit! WIth Hunting season just around the corner, I expect to see plenty of the good calibers in the shelves, and most folks will leave it there as it's 'Mo Spensive, then the Mil Surp stuff they want, Little do they know! Oh Well, happy days for me, I will buy up all the Grey box White Tail Winchester Factory stuff I can find, and the Blue Box Fed. Premium in the 5 calibers I stock up on! Remington Green Box Cor-lok .300 Win Mag, 200 gr and 180 gr @$15.98 a box, and $5 mail in rebate, no limits! Just cashed in for 1000 rounds of it! LOL Winchester Grey Box White Tail .308 150 gr. Ballistic Tip, @$11.98 per box! Fed. Blue Box 165 Gr Ballistic tip and 180 gr .30/06 @ $15.99 per box! Fed. Red Box 7 MM Mag, 140 gr Nosler Ballistic tip, @$17.99 per box! Norma 6.5X55 Swede 139 Gr. Hollow Point Match, @11.99 per box! (Grabbed 2500 rounds worth) as you just don't find deals on the Swede! No Issues here!
Not much available in this AO, except the LGS that still has their 70 dollar 333 boxes of .22lr from the last ammo scare. Only bird shot around here for shot guns. no pistol ammo, not even uber expensive SD rounds. I don't count .25acp as a pistol round Rifle .. you're fine if you have a 243, 270, or 325 WSM you can grab up a few boxes of each. But you can find steel cased 7.62x39 at 39.97 for 50 rounds if you are running low. Anything else ... you're eff'ed.
Have not really been shopping or looking for ammo of late but do glance at the shelves. They are pretty lean with most spots empty. Does seem to be a decent amount of .38s in 250 round boxes, .22Mag, .300WM, a decent amount of CCI .22 LR. Shotgun loads seem to be all #6 and #7 and slugs. .32, .17, 223, 5.56, .357, .44,.45. 9mm, .380, .308,.243, 30-30 and 7.62x39 seems to all be missing.
No .22 in my AO. Plenty of 12 gauge birdshot (#7 1/2, 8 and 9) and even some 00 buck last I checked. Everything else, slim pickens except maybe a few boxes of extremely high dollar premium hunting rounds in rifle calibers and not many of those.
Shoot man, Just listed a Remington 7400 in 243 locally,Lasted every bit of 3 minutes..... It's a sellers market !
At the gunshop I part time at we have been selling guns and ammo like never before. It started off with cheap FMJ 9mm ammo selling quickly, then cheap .38 Special FMJ/Lead Round nose. That was about 3 months ago and we sold out of FMJ 9mm after the first month so I brought in factory 9mm ammo I had from home. We only have 6 boxes of 9mm FMJ left and we are holding on to that so we can sell a box to anyone who buys a 9mm handgun. As far as shortages go, we have three cases of .223/5.56 left (150 boxes), one box of .38 Special, and three boxes of .25acp. Otherwise we are still okay on most calibers for now. Plenty of Commie caliber ammo, American .30 caliber ammo, and most pistol calibers except the aforementioned calibers. We sold our last AR yesterday and the only semiauto rifles left are an older Mini-14, a Remington 742 in .270, a Remington 7400 in .243, and an old Winchester A100 in .308.
Stopped in my local haunt yesterday. He had 7mm mag, 44 mag, 12 ga #12 shot, and bulk 38 special bagged 50 per bag. That was IT. It's a sizeable shop too.
Academy Sports is about the only place where I can get ammo. Got 3 more boxes of 20 gauge . 2 in 7 1/2 and one of #1 buckshot. Surprisingly there was 243,3006 and some high end 308. Plenty of 12 gauge as well. Still no pistol ammo to be found.
I have plenty of buck shot, lead T shot and lead BB. If I had to I could weaponize lame bird shot shells by dumping out the bird shot and replacing it with larger shot. The shotgun reloader websites like ballistic products dot com appear to be well stocked. I think they even lowered their prices.
Really bad idea. Unless you know what's below the wad, you might be asking for a face full of shotgun breech. Please be careful, do the research BEFORE you wear a metal nose piece or worse.
It's swapping weight for weight. No different then if I swapped from number 8 bird shot to lead BB mid run while using my shotgun shell reloader.
