Found this one today. Still had some battery life, but not enough to fly. Crashed in a bush. I have no idea what its capabilities are, but I'm impressed by the small size.
It has a tracking number on one blade. Makes me wonder who was flying it and how far away. We've had some really severe winds lately, so it could've been blown way off course. I'm thinking it needs to be opened up to see what's inside. Reminds me of kids (and adults) in the 60's who'd send gas airplanes flying across Detroit with no radio control, just to see where they crashed. Might make the news, maybe a fire. Something to do for entertainment.
Before you take it apart, research the drone and try to find out who sells it and what it sells for. If it's on the market at all. If you can't find it with google pics, or similar search engines, it may be high-tech & government-only. One thing is certain: The smaller the camera system, the more it costs. With surveillance, remote control, and a video link stuffed into a sphere about the size of a dime, that has to be one seriously expensive drone. In the meantime, keep it in a Faraday Cage until you know more. The little sucker may have a tracker on it. Don't be surprised if some suits come knocking on your door to get it back.
it looks like a cheap chinese one, either way it is best not to mess with it like @UncleMorgan said nuka bombdrop @ china
I guess I should've used something else for scale. That's a silver dollar, not a dime. I'll research it and see what I can find.
Finding stray drones in the bushes makes me fear that it won't be long before arsonists figure out how to deliver nasty surprises with these things.
Charge: USB charging cable Flight Time: About 6-8 minutes Charging Time: About 20-25 minutes ya need a usb cable to charge it [ there are many types ] it does not have a camera the li-ion battery can start fires
Good golly. It’s a toy. “Tracking number” is just an injection mold number. I bought one of these at Christmas on clearance at Rural King for like $2.00. It’s just a little ball with flashing LEDs and you control it with your hand. There are sensors in the ball and when it picks up an object close it moves in the opposite direction. You play with it kind of like batting a balloon the room around except you don’t touch it, it moves away on its own. It’s designed to be an indoor toy and it can’t handle wind. Flys for like 5-10 mins then needs charging with a USB charger. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B084VF8YLT/?tag=survivalmonke-20
So like a balloon on a string, some kid took it outside to play with it and it got away. If it could've gained any decent elevation with the winds we've had lately it could've come from miles away. It was blowing so bad the other day that I had water running down interior walls that'd been blown up under a loose trim edge up under the roof of the dormer windows. I've not seen it leak there since Hurricane Bertha, and we replaced the roof after that one. I may have to get one of these to play with. Most of the cats would hate it because it makes a whirring noise, but there's always one that has the right kind of curiosity to make it fun.
amazon has been looking to use drones to deliver packages.... can't imagine the crazy logistics of that
I bought one from a facebook Chinese website a year or two ago, it is a total piece of crap and basically does nothing except for sort of flies. I would equate it to those balsa-wood airplanes they used to sell at Rexal Drug Store Toy racks.
Had an incident with one about 6 weeks ago. Not a toy so I went to my local expert wanting to know best way to capture it. Not a good idea because they(drones) are in the legal domain of the folks who control all flights. Do it and get caught and you can go to the slammer.
Had some weather balloons once, good fun until we found bullet holes in them. Patched, refilled and let em go!
Weather balloons! Now we're talkin'! I remember Dad's balsa wood and tissue paper box kites in Detroit. Fragile looking little things. You'd never suspect that they had razors along the top edges. Flying kites was great fun back in the 60's.
I glomed on to a life raft box kite at a surplus place. Structure was tubler aluminum with cotton fabric. Had it up to to the full length of a shot line reel and had a Piper Buzz it. Still around someplace here. Original "string" was a braided copper wire antenna.
^^^^^^^^^ Standard Part of the Gibson Girl LifeRaft Emergency Radio System^^^^^^^^ When I was a FED, Part of the Title Three Part One Ship SOLAS Inspection was to have the crew break out the System and demonstrate the Operation of said Radio Transmitter on 500 Khx and 8.3 something Mhz... I had a portable Receiver that could pick up both frequencies but having the crew do CW Morse Code was funny... Also had avoid 5 minutes before to 10 minutes after the Top of the Hour, as that. was the International Quiet Time where Emergency Calling was to take place...
