A sign of the times.

Lately at work I've noticed that quite a few more customers bringing their viechel into my shop work have a gun in their cars. Heck, one guy was open carry! I do keep a truck gun myself. With all that's happening in the world today can't blame them for being prepared. What do you think?

Depends on state laws. Some states do not allow "loaded hunting" rifles in vehicles.
Then again with the proliferation of the AR Pistols you can still be legal.
But I never leave a weapon unsecured in a vehicle.

Well....
My daily carry has a home in a holster mounted to the center console of the truck. i move it from my waist when I get in and return it when I get out. Much easier access from the console holster when seated & belted.
I also have at least one long gun, usually a carbine length AR in secure storage under the rear seat. It's a hard case bolted to the floor with a fingerprint lock - 5 seconds to get to the weapon.
I do get some odd, mostly admiring, looks at the dealer...

Yeah I'm going to put a gun rack on my tractor. Probably put my rifle length AR , with silencer, with 203.

I think we must share some of the same customers! (We get many from across the lake) I've noticed a lot of weapons or the retainers for such in many vehicles brought in for service.

This seems to be much more common than in the past.

 

That's what I keep the sks around for 10 rounds with a scope "Ranch Rifle"

 

Actually it is - just weird. Half ton bed capacity with four adults on-board, 5k lb tow rating, pre-wired for trailer e-brake, AWD, and running boards. What else you need? But some reasons I chose it: flat bottom - no pumpkin or shock mounts hanging down, 25 mpg, independent suspension, flat bed bottom - I can put plywood or sheet rock in laying flat, huge lockable cargo space under the bed, 100k warranty. I run it 60 miles each way to work, so handling and fuel efficiency are important.
Believe me - I researched, borrowed and test drove I don't know how many before getting it. It does what I need it to do, and if I need something bigger - the '98 Chevy 2500 dump body works just fine...

Everyone open carries where I live so I'm used to it. I'll admit to something I haven't figured out. I don't carry my pistol, it's heavy and pulls my pants down. I have suspenders and a belt on. I've never used a shoulder holster, that is my next thing to try. I Have been thinking about this lately when I think about society breaking down. I did know a man who kept his 30-30 on a rack on the rear window of his truck for years and it never was stolen, until his kids visited and took it and his wife's jewelry.

I have one that needs to be dug out of the brush.
Around here we have to camo the traps, Make it look cumfee for the big cats and yet hard to get to because of the calves,not an easy task as calves are just like young children they can go any place just looking for trouble!
Traps are covered with carpet or tarps, with only one way in, if I feel a bigen' is about then a chicken or rabbit goes in the bait cage with food and water.

Caught more than one dog and tag them with spray paint to ID them as trouble makers. This prevents the "Oh my dogs all stay at home!"

I think someone is feeding poison as the yotes are in a decline. Not something I do unless I find the burrow and know what I have to do on my own place.

Yotes will kill anything that moves, deer, children, calves and even wear out a full grown cow.
