How exactly did this older gentleman find himself in this predicament? My best guess is that he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, and should have been safely at home! Wisdom comes with age and experience...and sometimes it don't.

Aren't we still supposed to be worried about china virus and protecting old people from it?

He is a "peace activist and old hippie" who was there to stand up for his rights to protest and while we may all admire the Tiananmen Square protester, sometimes the tanks do crush them. Martin Gugino: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know | Heavy.com He was walking towards the police line, attempting to stop them, it was after curfew, and he has a record of being anti police. While the police action may be viewed as "excessive", he was there to confront them and they did not pepper spray him, club him, and under ordinary circumstances the push in reaction to being blocked from going forward may well have been a good response, the police have at least an implied right in my mind to expect that those blocking their movements are not senile and have at least some mobility. I have balance issues and do not willingly go into crowds for any reason, as if I am shoved or forced to move quickly, I may fall down and have a hard time getting up. Maybe he will have his 10 minutes of fame and quit the protesting business while he still can with honor. ohno

The guy was walking toward the police, it is difficult to feel sorry for him. Plus the police did not push him hard, he either has balance issues or he took a fall like a soccer player.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. That small shove would have just backed a normal healthy person up. It would not have knocked them down.

My take?? >>> it was a liberal/ANTIFA set up that went wrong - he was supposed to be arrested and "man-handled" by the out of control cops - got azz planted instead ...

check this guy's history - might not even be a local - another toothless Indian that roams the protest circuit around the country ....

My experience is with the Guardia Civil and cufew.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guardia_Civil
At curfew time you had to be on leave and in place at some Hotel or risk being being shot or be charged by the US Navy for being AWL. No one that I know off was ever stupid enough to risk breaking the curfew.
OTOH some did spend all night locked down in local bars or other places more comfortable.

The same was in effect in Taiwan when I was there, comfort and protection was more easily found, all you had to do was make it back before Quarters was announced.

Either place machine gun nest could be found at major intersection and the cops/soldiers always patrolled in pairs with cocked automatic weapons.

Stupid people die at a higher rate than drunks.
I never ran with any stupid people.

US Protesters need to go off shore to understand the security here.

Cops went with Not Guilty (Buffalo police officers plead not guilty to charges they shoved 75-year-old man - CNN) even tho the media has already convicted them.

Antonio Wells (dude that supplied the video) says he watched as long-time activist Martin Gugino was pushed to the ground by Buffalo police following a peaceful protest in Niagara Square Thursday.

Wells was recording on his phone in front of City Hall Thursday night. Wells was one of the few protesters who stayed after a peaceful protest and initially defied the 8 p.m. curfew and police orders to leave.

    Stupid game give stupid surprises.

Friends Say Martin Gugino Is More Than an 'Injured Protester'
"Gugino has participated in many protests — and not just in Buffalo. He met both Colville and Prasasouk while protesting against the Guantanamo Bay detention camp. He was also seen demanding murder charges against the Cleveland police officer who killed Tamir Rice.

Gugino is also a member of PUSH Buffalo and Western New York Peace Center, among others. Colville believes Gugino wants more people to go out into the street, taking his place.

Dude went looking for trouble, and that's exactly what he found!

That said, it was obvious he was hurt ( bleeding from the head) and yet, no one attempted to help or treat him, and THAT'S the issue I see with this! Just like in Combat, once a Tango is down, he is no longer a threat, and you treat their wounds if possible, and that was not done here!

2 cops charged with felonies, their careers are in a bit of a jam. If I were a cop in Buffalo, I might have a serious flu problem along with very poor eyesight and hearing problems.

I’ll bet those cops weren’t medics and who wants to get sued for improper medical practice

In watching the video it was obvious to me that the cops had already called for EMS and that was a Officer with the radio.

In all cases the SOP is to call for help but not to make yourself and others a target. Yes protestors have been known to fake it and as a few cops gather around to assist they are passed by the group and then the yelling starts from the "injured".

The next thing you know is the "Good Officers" are surrounded and assaulted. Standard training for Riots is never get separated from your group.

Whenever I see imagery of police showing excessive use of force, or some other brutality, I think of Drowning Pool's "Bodies" song...

  17. OldDude49

    OldDude49 Just n old guy

thinkin here excessive use of force might depending on how the video is presented to the eye of the beholder...

and one must consider the beholders mindset BEFORE they even see the video...

it's alright... I suppose... to say they should have done this or that... but what is NOT in the picture?

are they lookin at a large group behind or near the old guy... with mask n such just waiting to pounce?

far too often video's we see are designed to slant the viewers opinion... and do not show the REAL truth of what is happening...

I see stuff and ya I start to form and opinion... and then back off and wait for the rest of the story!

often as not... when the truth comes out what is in the video is a twisting of the truth... and sometimes... even an outright lie...

Just think, It could have been you getting pushed. If you are in a liberal city and hang out at protests where violence is happening.
I think the police and how they do things need to be looked over and changed. They need to be demilitarized and stop doing no-knock raids in the middle of the night. its an accident waiting to happen.

I agree that no knock raids should be banned. However, the guy was taunting the cops and got showed and fell down. Most normal healthy people would have been able to recover from that shove without falling. Note: if you have mobility issues, it is not wise to be the font line of a mob taunting police.

And it is not a good idea to be at the forefront of a mob after curfew, nor should you charge at a line of police clearing an area of protesters.
