SO I decided to change tactics and instead of taking the services to the people to bring the people to me Via the T5R Machine Shed Bar and Grill. Going to open the Second week of July on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 8am-10pm. Where it went better than expected...... The inside the Machine Shed tables are now reserved from opening day through the end of October. I did not see that coming at all. Granted I only have seating for 48 inside and seating for another 30ish at the picnic tables with umbrellas around the outside (Which are not booked up yet). Poured the concrete floor yesterday got tired of trying to get the 2x4 concrete frame right so said screw it and bought a bunch of treated 2x6s and took maybe a hour to get them all level. So went with a 6" Fiber Concrete floor with four 10' lengths of rebar through the wood (5') on each bar connecting each of the 8 sections together. 10" of 3" rock under 6" of concrete should make a pretty solid floor Going to rent a floor grinder Monday to make it baby butt smooth. Then build a block house on the right side back half for restrooms and a storage room. Going to operate as a food truck sort of, the commercial kitchen is 100 feet to the right but technically a food truck set up on a private lot with the commissary 100 feet away instead of miles away Sometime next week that pile of crap and junk behind the truck is going to get pushed into that old hog barn and the old hog barn pushed down on it and 5 gallons gas and diesel liberally added and poof it will soon be ashes to push into a hole that needs filled The inside behind the tin base is going to be 1x red oak the metal uprights and roof supports are going to be covered with red oak. The Back 12'x24' is going to be enclosed with a counter running side to side, the really big smoker, the big flat top grill, the open grill and the stone oven are going to be there. The open sides screened, LED Strip lights on the ceiling and 4 big ceiling fans down the middle......... All to be done by me over the next 30 days Ed my electrician is coming Friday to run the 200amp line, breaker box and the 50amp and 30amp out door outlets to plug the trailers into the Machine Shed. Then we start building the dam for the 10 acre lake, the RV Camping Hook ups and pads and the 10 Rental Cabins One of the big factors of me deciding to stay in Southern IL. is that we have NO ZONING and NO Permits for anything outside of City Limits other than the waste water/septic systems have to be permitted and approved by the health department and commercial water has to be City/Rural water and the State Plumbing inspector has to sign off on the commercial plumbing. .......... Thus the vent pipe and drain pipe sticking up out of the concrete at State code specs The main water line runs right beside the Machine Shed on the right so easy enough to dig down and put a 1 1/2 inch T in it and bring it up and cap it.... and save some money by not having something else the State Licensed plumber can bend me over for. The water coming in via 1.5 inch pipe and feeding into 3/4 inch pipe makes for real decent water pressure coming out of the taps. I was so happy to be done pushing, pulling and floating concrete last night, there was not much Mikey left when the last section was done. I AM NOT DOING anymore one day 22 1/2 yard concrete projects by myself again in this lifetime! I am getting too old for that crap!!!
When I went to bed last night, I kept getting cramps in places I didn't know I had places and even my hair hurt LOL. Got up at sun up and tilled some 200' rows and planted 400 tomato plants...... As much as it hurt, it would have hurt worse if I did nothing today.
T5R ,, you are a madman. A damned good old work horse. I was supposed to be pouring 23 yrds tomorrow,, but put it off ,, expecting rain tomorrow thru sunday. So ,, scheduled for monday. Sounds like you've got things happening,,, good luck to ya ,, Those cramps happen to me especially after a hard day of work ,, I am not as young as I once was ,, and I pay the price for that on occasion. Post concrete work......now it is time to get into the light work of milling 7000 linear feet of Red Oak 1x8s and 2000 feet of Post Oak 4x4s Sure did not expect the mill to fire right up first turn of the key after sitting for 4 years collecting spiders and birds nest.
Backhoes goes back on after I manage to not have to re-till after every rain and finish planting! Have to use it to dig up the waterline and the trench from the electric meter/service to the Machine Shed. Changing the rear end 3pt implements out is a breeze. Putting the backhoe on is a bit of a PITA getting everything lines up for the pins to slide in.......... without getting the mini sledge I am partial to the Old BX22s and the BX25 Ds Big enough to do a lot of work but small enough to get in and out of tight places. But the BX25D came standard with the Bucket and Backhoe but not the mower deck....... Much cheaper to add a Mower Deck to a BX25 than to add a backhoe to another model. So if you can find a good not ragged out 25D as it came standard you should snag it. Price range on 2012 ish ones run $12,000-$14,000. I dropped $13,000 on that one and it only had 133 hours on it and was in mint condition (I changed that condition pretty quick and it has 440 hours on it now ) After adding the mower deck and the tiller it came in at $18,900 about half the price of what brand new BX would have cost.
Trowel never bothered me. It was the comealongs when the idiot on the truck chute couldn't follow directions.
After you grind and get it smooth and it has cured, I highly recommend an industrial epoxy coating, and not the water based DIY stuff they sell at Menards, but a true industrial coating. I put Rustoleum 9100 series down on my shop floor. 2 coats with color chips sprinkled on and then a clear coat over it. Absolutely Fantastic! I can spill oil, gasoline, diesel, brake fluid, mineral spirits and all sorts of crap on it and then just wipe it up with a paper towel. Nothing touches it and the floor looks great 10 years later.
