Ugh.. Yes, it's in Australia...but it's a US company that led the directive.. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20071115/wl_asia_afp/lifestyleaustraliachristmasoffbeat_071115024540 SYDNEY (AFP) - Santas in Australia's largest city have been told not to use Father Christmas's traditional "ho ho ho" greeting because it may be offensive to women, it was reported Thursday. Sydney's Santa Clauses have instead been instructed to say "ha ha ha" instead, the Daily Telegraph reported. One disgruntled Santa told the newspaper a recruitment firm warned him not to use "ho ho ho" because it could frighten children and was too close to "ho", a US slang term for prostitute. "Gimme a break," said Julie Gale, who runs the campaign against sexualising children called Kids Free 2B Kids. "We are talking about little kids who do not understand that "ho, ho, ho" has any other connotation and nor should they," she told the Telegraph. "Leave Santa alone." A local spokesman for the US-based Westaff recruitment firm said it was "misleading" to say the company had banned Santa's traditional greeting and it was being left up to the discretion of the individual Santa himself. Sort of makes me feel like saying....socio-economically disadvantaged woman who sells her body for cash, socio-economically disadvantaged woman who sells her body for cash, socio-economically disadvantaged woman who sells her body for cash just doesn't do it for me.....
In related news, it looks like Don Imus will be back on the air in time for Christmas. That could get interesting.
California - Locally the Yiddish Father Kwanza dressed in his seasonal red and white tribal robes, stood outside the local retailers, expressing his well wishes to all that could hear. For those hearing impaired, closed captions were available as well as a Braille handbook of greetings for those that were optically limited. No donations were accepted, but instead encouragement to accept and love your fellow man, in a purely platonic sense, (although there is nothing wrong with the other kind of love to each other, according to your preference...) So in closing, from all of us to all of you, a Happy, Merry, Holiday, Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, Season, Greetings!!!!! (apologies made to any group not mentioned, the aforementioned article in no ways reflects the attitude or belief system of the Survival Monkey, or any other Simian relatives)
I suppose "Hoe-Hoe-Hoe" the traditional armenian farm work call didn't get any consideration either!` viva armenia
This constant drumbeat of multiculturalism is just a straw man. The whole concept of "cultural sensitivity" was created, and carefully nurtured, by the North Pole's top PR agents, as a means to draw attention away from the true evil: SANTA SMOKES. May he burn in hell.
