OK you apes, my personal observations thus far. I work as a paramedic, I do my job and don't expect anything but a paycheck at the end of the week. My personanal observations of the reaction of people during this pandemic. 1) People are idiots. I'm tired of seeing people wear PPE either incorrectly (the mask has two sets of straps for a reason, use them), they pull the mask away from their face when they are speaking and this contaminating the surface of the mask with their nasty hands, they wear the same pair of gloves all day and never clean them or touch their face with them, or (God's above) put one in their mouth as they are texting on their phone (true story). 2) Don't thank health care providers for our service. Just stay healthy and watch out for your friends and family. 3) Wash your doggon nasty hands and keep them out of your face. If you have to touch your face then clean your hands first with hand sanitizer. 4) Watch your nasty little kids. Had a lady at Lowe's ask why I was looking at her with the old stink eye. I said "I wasn't, I was looking at your little snot goblin". She was offended! I continued by saying "If maybe you would pay him as much attention as you do that phone, you would see that he is literally licking the push handle on your cart, and you have 4 bags of black cow fertilizer and no one around to help you so I'm assuming you loaded it". Her response was "So?". "Lady it's bull manure, and you probably have some on your hands if you loaded it and thus you have contaminated the cart. Ergo, your kids is licking bullshit. Good day". 5) Did I mention wash your nasty hands? It bears repeating. 6) I have to wear a mask for my entire shift. The only time I can take it off is if I'm eating or drinking. Please don't complain to me that it's hot, or uncomfortable, or you can smell the burrito or kimchi you had for lunch. I have no sympathy for you. 7) Stop freaking out over infection rates, number of deaths in your city/ state whatever. Calm down. Wash your hands, keep your dirty grubbers out of your face. Practice social distancing. Be a hermit. 8) Stop hoarding toilet paper! Seriously. It's respiratory, not lower GI. You still want to hoard toilet paper, fine. Then get the industrial John Wayne toilet paper. You know, rough, tough, and takes no shit. THAT paper you can have all you want. But the regular two ply soft stuff? Share the love (and the roll). 9) Again, wash your hands, keep them out of your face, and other peoples faces. Tired of hearing it? Yeah me too. 10) Most of this is tongue in cheek humor but it is actual observations. Y'all be safe out there.
Well said, MO. If anything, I think you understated it a bit. 99.9% of the herd thinks the wolves will pull down anyone except them, and it doesn't matter if the wolves in question are mammals or microbes.. So they just keep on munching on the tasty grass until there is a stampede, and then they just follow the leaders over the edge of the cliff. It which case "it" happens to 99.9% of the herd and the wolves win. I think the Space Aliens are breeding us for stupid, just so we'll be easier to put on a fork. Or maybe the wolves are.
I never had most of those problems during the AIDS Breakout! Why? We did not have PPE Mouth to mouth equipment. We did not Have gloves, get blood on you? When finished extracation or bandage or Body Bag just grab a bottle of saline and waste it on yourself (remember to get a replacemet bottle from the ER, this saves your arse if you get another call before you make it back to the now cold meal at the food truck and a bit of budget $$ from your Home Station's supplies too.) So just be happy things have changed but are still the same. From a well mentored Box Rider and ER thankless person.
lol stupidity in humans is rampant. here is my favorite i saw a woman in the grocery store with her 5 kids ... she had a mask on with rhinestones on it! and her kids had nothing on..... now what are the chances of the kids getting a virus and not giving it to the mom? but hey she had a decorative mask on and looking good is all that's important these days. Right?
People are resistant to change, Until it actually hits home, but even then some are either stupid or just stubborn. The idea of survival to some is maintaining the lifestyle they know, not moving into a new mode of survival, which is what we are facing now. We all are faced with a lifestyle change that is permanent most everybody is resistant to, but like it or not Pandora's box is open. We know what needs to be done , and the people that cannot adapt will not survive.
I'm amused by the ones who wear a mask, pulled down over their chin or hanging around their neck. Like, why even bother? Might as well wear it on your wrist for all the good that does.
My daughter who is a phelobotomist is singing the same song and uses the same word - "idiots." She had 2 patients last week who had both been swabbed because they had symptoms THEN went into her lab for blood draws to check their cholesterol. the lab is waiting to hear the swab results and if positive, they are all quarantined for another 2 weeks as well as anyone in their waiting room.
Virtue signalling. Or a COPD patient that has a lot of problems breathing without a mask. (You can tell them by their gasping when the mask is in place.)
