Well, I worked in the yard and garden instead of buying replacement gas at $1.69/gal.........and now it is selling for $1.52/gal..
Houston area today = $1.35 / gallon at Exxon & Mobil stations. About the same at Bucee's, though it varies according to the day of the week. All other stations close to the interstate highways are maybe 10 to 15 cents higher.
I got 50 gals. on Saturday for $1.46 per gallon before I went to work. I'll get more on Monday, but the price may be higher.
Scored another 50 gals. for $1.46/gal., treated it and I'm good to go for another year or so. Flushed the pumps, etc. so that they will be ready when needed. Next I need to start the generators. Then I can plant the garden, about the first of May.
This past week has been holding at $1.53/gal, but today has dropped a bit more to $1.49. Good for consumers, bad for the US oil industry. Still concerned about the rebound effect...after US production has throttled back, some branches such as fracking are bankrupted...then the prices are jacked back up, likely higher than we have recently seen. Don't have any Casey's around here.
2.09/9 today. 77 cents of that is state tax, supposed to be for road maintenance and the like. Dunno where they are spending it.
Always live on the same road as a politicians girlfriend,You can get plenty done just by asking her if she can help out !
I have not seen fuel this cheap since the 80's in Canada So Im doing fuel runs , trailer / tidy tank filling 500 USG split tank or 2k L Got the LPG all topped off also , firewood is down , just needs splitting and stacking Sloth
A barrel of oil is selling for $10.35 (the lowest since in 32 years) so why is gas still high? I guess nobody is buying because of the shut-down.
A barrel of oil is selling for -$25.38, as in negative! Does that mean that the OPEC producers are PAYING you to take their oil off of their hands? I wonder if I can get a rebate on that 100 gals. of gas I just bought?
I saw a post that was on CNN... where some Yahoo reporter says that CrudeOil Futures are selling at Zero Dollars... Hell at that price i could buy a couple Million Barrels, for 2021 delivery, and make a Double Ton of Money...
I have to think that there are some contracts for buy out there that means selling at a loss will save money. No, I do NOT understand all I think I know about this, but futures are running around negative 25 today. In transit storage is full, strategic storage is full, barges are full, rail tankers are full, tanker ships are full, no place to put the crude OR products. If I could build a tank, I could fill it and be paid to do so.
Why isn't gas cheaper? Cost of production, transport, federal taxes, state taxes, profit from driller, wholesaler, and retailer add to the base cost. Plus 42 gallons of oil in doesn't equal 42 gallons of gas out due to cracking percentages. Michigan has 42 cent per gallon taxes and the idiot in charge wanted to add an additional 45 cents.
