Motivational Poster Thread (warning content)

I've been spinning wrenches for 40+ years, there are 7 hour jobs I can do in 20 minutes. It hurts, and I have to bend in ways that'd make a circus contortionist proud, but it's fixed right, the first time.

 

I know I've posted this before, but it just makes me laugh every single time I see it.
BOOM!

 

We had a student that didn't have anywhere to go on Christmas leave, so we kept him around the school house doing odd jobs. There were some floors that needed stripping, and being a Corporal, we figured he knew how to operate a buffer.

Five minutes later we hear a crash, and weak cries for help coming from the adjacent classroom. This knucklehead had managed to get the floor slick enough with wax stripper that when he turned on the buffer it had wrapped him around the handle with the cord until he'd spun out of control and knocked the mop bucket over when he fell. Turned out this was his very first encounter with a buffer.

After he'd gotten cleaned up we gave him some pointers and put him right back to work with that buffer. Before the other students came back he was a buffer master, and could run it with one hand.

 

Haha! After two hitches - USAF then USN, I had my Master Buffer Operator ticket. Later in the civvie world, I'm working at a U-Haul store. One weekend we closed early to give the store a good cleaning. A young guy tries to buff the floor, but is slam-banging into the shelves really bad! So I grab the buffer, and even having been a few years since I had handled one, I immediately had it humming along nicely. I showed how to go easy on it, just give it a nudge in the proper direction, let the buffer do the work. Finally had him checked out on it. Like riding a bicycle, one never forgets!

 

I bet you could hang meat in there.
