Be it natural events or events man has generated due to conflict or incompetence, who bears the responsibility for reparations, but those that survive. The aftermath of any conflict the survivors bear the brunt of rebuilding both society and infrastructure even the reformation of government and military forces to with stand invasion. I would be willing to bet the forces that plan the over throw of this country are not already forming plants to step in the moment things go wrong. If we as survivalists do nothing but hide till the dust settles, we may not be so happy with what fallows.
You assume what was will be, the reality is when a large government failed in the past many small governments form. I would see the US break into something like Europe and them gradually reform into something like the US.
As far as reparations, Never going to happen, for one, the U.S. Mil. has a get out of everything free card, and 2, assuming we had a functioning economy, where would the funding come from? Costs to rebuild, that would be the burden of everyone, and good luck getting much done, as was done in Germany and Japan post WW-II, with out outside interests involved, nothing is getting rebuilt!
As usual its the search for the guilty and the punishment of the innocent why that's just how it works in the USA USN USMC ARMY AIR FORCE situation normal all F***ed up
Like @fedorthedog , I see the USA fracturing, countries forming from tri-states unions or even a single state (think California) which as the resources, population and ports to go it alone...then the big fish will gobble the little fish for whatever cause and reason that they can justify sending others to bleed and die and after the blood letting and the dust settles and with a lot of luck, the USA might form again. The big question is if the people who had gain power will relinquish power to form a USA or perhaps they might even gain more power that way so they would do so...but there are so many variables that it's truly impossible to say what will happen. Now, when the Soviet Union fell apart and Russia went right to the edge of the abyss it was fracturing also but Putin stepped in with a iron fist held the country together. He did crap like murdering the criminal organizations and separatists in their beds using the FSB and Special Forces but held the country together.
Most of the destruction will be mitigated by the high die off rates in dense urban areas. Not that it wouldn't be easy elsewhere, but those will become abandoned grave yards that in time will be repopulated. They are big cities for reasons such as ports or important crossroads. No produce = no eat = die. In the west rural areas will control hydro, solar, and wind energy production. Rural areas will also control food production. He who controls water controls life, so expect battles to control the big hydro dams on the Columbia and the Colorado. The Metro areas will become city states and attempt to control rural areas. It will work for a while until they run out of resources. Expect the National Guard suffer from high desertion rates as soldiers decide to a) take care of their own families and b) won't be down with subjugating citizens at the behest of Tyrant Governors. Tyrants like Killer Kate would be wise to have a plan B because as soon as she is down to State Troopers life will get "interesting".
The taxpayers / insureds / members of the organization or the individual ultimately. Basically either you or me or both.
I have to agree 100% with this. I am not responsible for rebuilding your abode or infrastructure, nor is anyone else liable for my failure to mitigate my area prior to an event.
That was my point, those of us that manage to survive will be the infrastructure. If the job is left to democrats/socialism/NATO, we won't see America gain. Conservatives must become activists. Most survivalists want to run and hide.
Pessimist or optimist? I wrote a book series, The World of the Chernyi, that looks at possible outcomes of what the OP posed. I see some areas, post collapse, that will 'recover' much faster - for example, the Inter mountain West (Great Basin) owing to the both the the resources and population mix. I also see major urban areas used for 'mining' the scrap left after the crash - nothing more. Sort of a "Nuevo Badlands" or downtown Mogadishu... No matter your viewpoint or how much/how hard you have prepared - it will be a real shitstorm for everyone....
the "last" will go the quickest >>> the last parts of the US and the world for that matter - to get civilized & populated are the most dependant on modern technology (since 1930s) >>>> some desert locales won't last a week ....
I guess i dont really understand the question or maybe i have a different context for looking at it. The word reparations implies that the damage had a party to blame. Sometimes $hit just happens. And if you survive you recover. Quite frankly you can't blame one side or the other as it takes two to fight. If one side doesnt fight back there is no fight. It takes one person (the one in your shoes) to stand up for freedom. The problem in the USA is that many people are ignorant of what freedom means. And only give lip service to freedom because it hasnt cost them anything. (I know I'm preaching to the choir so I will get off my soap box for now) back to 'reparations' I'm not interested in blame or reparations, I'm interested in what will fix our country. There is a fix in play now. You can see it with quarantines and the National Guard being called out. My concern is we are merely trading one master for another with no real fix in site. I dont think the down turn will be as bad as everyone thinks it will be or as long. Having said all that..... When people start talking reparations I have to ask reparations for who, for what? and how far back in history are you willing to go for this kind of nonsense?
This explains why people go zombie eyed in front of the tv...I wonder if TVs before the 1990s have the ability to do it too.
