It's those last 4 digits that make up the important part (well they are all important)
WWYY is for tires that are DOT approved and manufactured since 2000.
Prior to that it was WWY where the year was the last digit of the year but didn't tell you what decade it was .. so a 255 could be the 25th week of 1975, 1985 or 1995.

Well,I guess the main thing is just to get an heads up for people running BFG's
Keep a close eye on em'
Thanks again to all that contributed to knowledge about tires and everything!

That's weird. Almost like they were tying to tread separate, all at the same time.
I wonder if there was a labor dispute back in the 7th week of 2015.

They are closing in on 5 years. If they get a lot of heat and sun … well the mfg probably has an x year from date of mfg for defects and workmanship. Maybe you got in under the wire. I'm just glad it didn't go catastrophic whilst you were driving cause that would be awful.

Thanks,I was out at my camp weekend before last and noticed the back drivers side with 3 side lugs poking out,2 nd picture above.
Keep looking around ,Didn't care for what I was seeing,I'm like no way I'm getting on 10,So it's 190 to the masion,Much better chance of getting local's to help out if needed.
I have time to do 35 in Eunice or Church Point vs 70 on 10 and end up in the medium or a rice field,You've been that way ?

Got this replay on another local site,Makes sense in a way

Back in the ‘90’s, BFG Radial A/T’s were all I ran when I lived in South TX. Saw this rather frequently. Would have sidewall “dry-rot” with plenty of tread life remaining. On a side note, I was pretty rough on them....South TX pear patches, West TX rocks, Padre Island sand. Had them on a Jeep CJ-7 and a Chevy 3/4 ton 4WD Suburban. It was always disappointing to have to bu6 new tires with what was inevitably plenty of tread life, remaining.

I work for Goodyear so I'll try not to be bias here. Your DOT date is correct. When telling customers they need new tires I use a shoe analogy. Got a Mustang ,than you need a high speed tire with good handling. Truck or SUV depends on whether 2 or 4 wheel drive and conditions one is driving. 2WD for the most part any good street tire will work fine. However 4WD is a whole different story. Depends on terrain and how the vehicle is set up. Down here mud tires are almost essential. Dessert conditions will require a different tire all together. Hay you got 61k out of them. Time to get new ones. I know a guy that knows a guy that can get you some new tires. LOL.

When I lived in the mountains I had 2 full sets of rims and tires for my 1958 cheve truck ,one for winter and one for summer.
and there were times I mixed matched for a particular event.
This preserved the snow tires for winter only and highway tires for relatively dry weather.
I had another pair of tall tires for long trips and better fuel economy.
The only serious problems I had was with low inflation. mountain roads tax the tire wall more than strait highways .
Being poor I resort to used tires often, so I had to learn more tricks to keeping them alive. Due to age and rim condition I sometimes used brake fluid to liven the rubber in the rim surfaces and regained the seal. I have my own manual tire machine .
I even changed the split rim tires on my truck. most shops won't touch now days.
