The Wheel is brand new patented technology, incorporating the engine and gear train entirely within the front wheel. It can be installed on most existing bicycles around the world. You simply replace your existing wheel! https://www.revopower.com/
I'm liking this, but I weigh 250lbs. I wonder if it will actually be able to move me along From the public library computer
Its a 2 stroke motor. So any 2 cycle oil like for chainsaws and weedeaters I'm guessing. I wonder how loud it is?
That wheel looks pretty slick. I doubt I'd shell out the 400 bucks for one, but it'd be nice to give one a test ride.
Well if I wasstill in the city it would likely be worth it or if they could at least double the top speed, 20 mph as a top speed on flat terain (and probably less with a 300 lbs guy on the bike) just wouldnt work as well for running to work or errands that are generaly all 20 miles or more away and 40-50 miles isnt unusual. Like I say though if the top speed was better I could make that at $400 and getting 200 mpg pay for its self in a month ot 2 easily. A tank of gas is about $50 now and I generaly go through at least a tank a week or like now about 2 1/2 tanks a week.
They've increased their price estimate to 600 dollars. Still pretty frickin cool if you ask me. Since it's under 50cc and 25 mph it's considered like a moped and wouldn't need to be licensed or insured in most states. Very economical.
If funds alowed would be an excelent option as a backup BOV. Basicly have one of these on a bike for each person in the truck or whatever and have them tied to the roof. If the main vehicle goes down, strap on the pack (hook cart to bike if getting real fancy) and make a LOT better time with a LOT less work than hoofin it or even fully pedaling the bike and do it on a teacup of fuel. Still makes it possible to go where cars and trucks cant, like along highways that have become abandoned parking lots.
I don't know..... considering you get a motorized vehicle for the price of your mountain bike and an extra 600. What does a moped cost these days? And if you actually used it a LOT.... you could save that much in a year with the price of gas the way it is.
