the tool is worthless...

it will do nothing...

aka making it do something...

so guns do nothing in and off themselves....

takes a human to make em do things... be that good or evil...

 

Not so, Old Dude....Animals furry critters have shot their human companions...

Humans and their dumbass guns...it will be the death of them....

I can't recall anyone killed by a dog wielding a knife!

The Yard Dart ban was the first time I realized the danger of the Nanny State mentality. We used them a lot. We knew and my parents knew we could use them safely. Fact is, I wondered who was such an idiot they could hurt themselves. Flash forward several decades and now it's 99% of everybody ten years younger than me. The rest of us handled things considered dangerous all the time and knew our safety depended on us and not a government official.

 

Well anybody can send a rocket into space. We have an abundance of astrophysicist. It is an even more amazing achievement that we have one who wrote and performed "Last Horizon" to such an amazing level of expertise IN HIS SPARE TIME! Once in a while I'm jealous of those Limeys.

 

Armed teachers won't deter someone who knows or thinks they are going to die. However, notice how many of these nut jobs choose gun free zones where they know they will face no resistance. When is the last time one chose a police department or a gun show where they know there will be armed resistance. Answer: None. Fact is they are all cowards and that's why they pick the places they do.

Even the possibility that some teachers may be armed is enough to send them after lower hanging fruit.

Let me ask you this - suppose you get news that there is a shooter in a school your child or grandchild attends. Would you feel that child is safer or less safe if there are armed teachers who volunteered and are trained. I know that's what I would want. Perhaps you are OK with having them at the sole mercy of a nutcase, but I sure as hell am not.

 

Just wondering here ,,,if our Demwitless 2nd Amendment haters were to abolish the 2nd amendment , and us law abiding citizens were to turn in all of our weapons ,,, have they calculated how long it will finally take them to retrieve the now illegally owned weapons by the criminals ? And how many citizens will have to die because they cannot defend themselves from those criminals before they are all finally recovered ?? Will we just be the sacrificial lambs ?

 

The authorities have been trying to take guns from criminals since the 1,400s. And they are still working on it.

Me and my sister didn't throw them at each other because we knew we would get our asses beat, then go to the emergency room, then grounded till after the injuries healed.

 

Pick a city. Any city at all, Say, Chicagostan or perhaps Baltimore, and outlaw ALL firearms and see how well folks fare. Better yet, lets pick a state.. I vote for Commifornia.

......probably none.....this process is a loooong game and yes I am talking from our experiences here. What happens is that, were there is no registration (most of Australia pre-1996 and New Zealand till just now), they pass the legislation that makes ownership/possession illegal with sledgehammer like penalties for being in breach of the laws. Here they ran the (mandatory) "buyback" and paid BETTER than market value, statistically they got probably less than 10% of the effected firearms surrendered in this process (I was in the industry several years before and have an idea of the numbers that were imported/made here vs handed in). The Govt then don't bother going door to door or the like trying to seize them they just wait. In the year following several things will happen i) people will stop using them out of fear of being caught with them ii) some will get caught with them incidentally when coming to attention for other things iii) some will get sick of living in "fear" of being caught and take advantage of "no questions asked" hand-ins after iv) people will pass away, go into aged care, become infirm etc and their kids/grandkids will hand them in. A couple of generations on, the numbers will dwindle. Even here after 23yrs there are still 100s of 1000s of prohibited firearms out there.

It is also noteworthy that the numbers new legally purchased firearms here (since 1996) now exceed the numbers handed in.....people find a way.

 

State and Federal LEOs apprehend and confiscate illegal firearms on a regular basis from criminals and would be terrorists without loss of life. Such events are carefully planned and executed. Where police officers have come to grief on occasion is when they are ambushed by a nutter with a gun, during the course of duties unrelated to gun seizure operations.
