I'd have to repeat the tests in the video before I could trust it, but looks effective and almost impossible to regulate:

yep [coo] [coo] we have seen this before .. ..

yall be real :cautious: :cautious: though, this is resistant to certain types of rounds [ a very limited set of rounds ] it is most certainly not bulletproof

still this is better than nuthin .. .. and at $30 it is cheap enuff to play with .. .. but dont bet yer life on it .. ..

    AR500/550/600/650 is the gud stuff

    just sayn

Wholeheartedly agree, but periodically we hear of regulating plate and making it illegal to own. Might be better than nothing since it appears to stop the most common pistol rounds.

Scrounged up some kelvar for sails, sewed it together for soft vest, never tried shooting it, don't know if it would be more resistant than fiberglass and don't know if it would be better with resin. Lots of things to play with, just never got into it. Interesting.

I'd like to see what a broadhead would do to it. I had some heavy felt and Kevlar airbag material as a backer for an archery target.
Stopped target arrows just fine. Didn't even seem to slow down a broadhead. I like the concept.

A little kevlar might do the trick and sandwiching other materials as well could improve performace, though it might increase the cost a bit.

Nice idea. Made my stomach hurt when he sanded the fiberglass without a respirator. Very bad idea.

I wondered about making a home more bulletproof and plates used for holding targets seemed like an idea. 24 inches of water in a planter works also. I bet body armor is made illegal after awhile.

I'm too old to be running around getting in gun fights if I can avoid it, and avoiding it is how I got this old. But if I had to get into a close range fight with nothing substantial to provide cover I'd prefer something light, so it could be larger and cover more of me.

Realizing the potential of body armor, and shooting lots of little steel plates at speed, for defensive training I've come to see the value of "missing" those plates and shooting hips/legs and neck/face alternately and repeating as necessary until the threat is neutralized.

One of the recent mass shooters was wearing body armor. Yes, the dead one, within a minute according to the news.

I'm too old and out of shape to be running around as well, but I don't see SHTF as a "only me and mine" situation. Succesful survival for most of us is a community thing regardless of where you live. One of my post (God forbid) SHTF roles is as an armorer. These roles I can still fulfill are what drive the skills I work on - communications, first aid, knowledge base, etc..

I think most houses are like paper and bullets go right through them. Makes me nervous.
