Petition Asks White House to Recognize Second Amendment Does Not ‘Give’ a Right


Recognize that the government does not "give citizens the right to bear arms." | We the People: Your Voice in Our Government

 

None of the amendments "give" rights, they list rights that exist in a rational society. Would passing an amendment making it illegal to breathe make it impossible to breathe?

 

Exactly. Rights come from creator or creation (depending on your religious persuasion)....they are not 'granted' by a document...merely SOME are recognized in case idiots have a problem understanding that. Clearly you have the natural human right to stay alive in the face of someone trying to harm you, and to use whatever means necessary to do so.

In fact, the 9th amendment goes on to state that:

"The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people."

The Constitution is more of an organizational document of govt, the LIMITED powers granted by the people to govt, and the restrictions ON govt. The Bill of Rights was more an after thought that recognized we have power grabbers and idiots that can't recognize natural rights of folks and maybe we ought to spell out SOME of them for those twits.

The more the Democrats talk the more I see the need for the second amendment.
