I am attempting to befriend some ground squirrels

Gator is just pullin your leg. Them cajuns has a spice for anything including a goodyear tire.

 

don't them mudbugs need cleanin? somethin about a mud vein or some such?

if so how does a body go about that?

 

You can...Just use salt...Or be like me and don't eat the mud-line as I call it.

 

saw em add the salt but what does that do?

 

I worked with a few Cajun's back in the late 80's , we were finishing up a job , and they wanted to have a party with all the dedicated workers. So they called home , and had a Hundred pounds of live crawdads flown up to NC , and we had us a good ole crawfish boil that night . Sure was good . I don't remember us worrying about no mud-line back then . seems it would be about the same as the mud line in a shrimp , most people don't worry about that line either .

 

Makes em' poop!!! Will also kill them if left to long.

 

We call that De-Vaining,Which I do.

Yeah they do. Around here we use beer. Just consume an ample amount before the boil is dumped on the table. Doesn't get rid of the mud vein but you just don't care by this time.
