A much BETTER & Cheaper set of Jumper Cables can be had, by Purchasing the Alligator Clips from Amazon, and then going to a Welders Supply Store, and getting some OLD USED Welding Cable, from them, for Free.... Heavier and Fine Stranded Wire usually in O or Larger Wire... and will carry 200 Amps with out even getting warm... That is exactly what I did, after frying a number of Cheap Jumper Cables, with tinny Alligator Clamps... I like what I ended up with so much I built two more sets out of the Leftover Welding Cable... on is 16Ft and the Other is 24'.... I also used some of that Welding Cable to make the Interconnect Jumpers on the Inverter Batteries and from the Battery Bank to the Inverter... Good for 300Amps with little Voltage Loss....
Just a thought. We saw this in Successful Farming. Visit a fork truck shop and buy sets of Anderson power poles. Mount one through the grill of your vehicle. Use one for one end of your jumper cables instead of clamps both ends. Jumpers hook together and it's quick and easy to hook up to vehicle. Power poles available on line now too.
10 gauge cable? Not enough for more than a bke or small lawnmower, but I guess my OOOO cables would be a bit large for that Yep, used welding cable is great!
I use these on any vehicle in long term storage and have a matching set for my battery charger. Disconnect the battery from the vehicle and you prevent dead batteries and car fires in case of varmints and you have a quick and clean way to charge the battery or jump another like vehicle. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0094FJ8HI/?tag=survivalmonke-20
Yup my intent was for Bike to Bike Jump. Time and money is often the deciding factor in any purchase.
I made a set back in the mid 70s out of some scrap 4 gauge wiring stripped from an old C118 aircraft and a set of battery clips. They worked well for jump starting my old 3/4 T Chevy 350 and I still use them today. Only bad thing is it's not as flexible as welding cable. Most 8 and 10 gauge jumper cables simply smoke and don't start the vehicle, especially a truck. The outfit I worked for at the time modified a number of C118 ex-military aircraft for flying salmon from Alaska to Washington state. Every pound of unnecessary wiring and equipment stripped and tossed out the back door meant another pound of fish could be thrown in the front.
Just delivered, no way I could beat this deal. Quality all the way, as I said before this is for small jumps. I got this larger set for the shop and a shorter 10Gau. for the saddle bags. $15.99 double crimped at the clamps. and of course crimped with the insulation on, so 3 crimps.
