well the tornado and high winds hit last night. My half mile road is blocked with trees, trees down all around my house but missed my house by inch’s. No electricity,no running water but we are safe. Wife was complaining about no water to drink,no coffee or water to flush the toilet, funny. I waited until she had claimed down then I asked her about all the times I had begged her to put things back. After I had let her worry for awhile I started bringing in water, lights and other things we needed that I had hid back,I have a believer now. The gen is up running with plenty of diesel so we have lights now,can flush the toilet with water from my rain barrel, drinking water, food, everything. The whole parish was hit hard but so far no injuries so far, mostly trees across roads. We are ok with everything we had before the storm hit and my wife is now onboard. Happy days are here again. Edit— water will be off two days, Electricity will be off about two days
A believer made is a battle won. Congrats, too bad that reality had to show its teeth. Welcome her to our community. Glad you're OK.
Mini SHTF events are good they test your strategies Glad your strategies were in place and ready in a 50% situation that sounds like has turned into a much higher % situation now.
@oldman11 Well done! Just think of the outcome if you had not had your preps? It really doesn't take much to make a big difference. Really glad to hear you are well and thriving even in the mess you are in. And, glad to hear you are safe... Again, well done! As far as the wife, sometimes some folks take more convincing than others, they're more stubborn, maybe more optimistic but normally after they get burned they are true believers...
Looks like some of your work is accomplished ,but I would not wait too long to replenish your supplies. These are weird times .
Happy you now have a convert, as well as an understanding Partner.... It will make your preping purchases in the future, easier...
Good news and I'm happy you were prepared. How's the place going to be after the cleanup? Will it be okay?
The parish came by and looked around and said they would be back this evening,I hope. But you know how the parish people are, they don’t always tell the truth.
