Had to show this off. My boy made a folding shovel in metal class. One proud Mom! He just needs to paint it so it won’t rust then we will wrap the handle with paracord.
BOY , Get some 1/2 round wood on both sides of that handle !! then take a feel .. Well done So-FAR , but NOT finished . I misplaced my 1960s trowel on the ranch here , I needed to wood handle mine but didn't & knew it, you finish yours and be proud for LIFE ! Sloth Let me see it after the wood handle has been installed.. Looking great as it's finished .
I'm really impressed. That is some fine work. I can see the pride in the craftsmanship. Get that boy a welder and a set of torches, or anything else in that line that he wants. We need more fabricators. That line of work was a good career for me for nearly 50 years.
I do not know if he will want a wood handle but I will suggest it to him. Kid is of a certain mindset that believes you can never have too much paracord. I am hoping he can't break it but if there is a weakness, we will find it. I had bought a few folding shovels and they are garbage. The shovel part is so flimsy and another brand we have has a square shovel. When digging a vehicle out, a slightly pointed tip helps. Thank you all for the thumbs up on his project. He continues to impress and surprise me.
