I remember that night well. I'd done a truckload of Y2K fixes for clients including the NRC and stayed in the office until about 3 AM ensuring that nobody had any issues. On my way out I locked the office door and noticed everything was covered in a new sheen of ice which I tested and found to be VERY slick. I stood there a few moments trying to figure out how I was going to get to my car when I slowly started sliding down the very gentle incline of the entry. Soon I was going pretty quick and would up on my butt. Unable to get back up I slid and crawled to my car, got inside... and the battery was dead.

Name the revolver that Sgt Joe Friday used. Was it a colt python? It’s been too many years,I might be wrong. My grandfather did not miss Dragnet on the tv. Dragnet,Gunsmoke, and Red Skeleton were his favorites. Before tv there was a news show on the radio that he also listened to,can’t remember the name.

IIRC it was a S&W model 10....but it has been a while since I've watched it.

As far as naming it...how about "Fred" ;)

They pulled the tweet down now since some snowflakes were upset by it. The purpose of the military is to break crap and kill people. Snowflakes just don’t understand that.

Always struck me strange that dot mil is issued less than lethal armament for any purpose, even crowd control when assisting civil authorities. Drop a couple rioters, and watch them disperse. Yeah, I know, the hooraw would be out of sight, but might very well be less of it. Seems like there is precedence, thinking Kent State. There hasn't been a repeat that I know of. Expensive lesson, eh?

I think the so called Snowflakes understand that the military break crap and kill people, they are just calling out the bad taste of the military making that apparent in such a trivial and childishly silly way.

I guess .mil learned the lesson at Kent State that issuing Guardsmen, ill trained and ill equipped in dealing with civil disturbance with ball is not a very good idea. Strange as it may seem to some here, the US .mil cannot shoot US civilians willy nilly at their own discretion. The US armed forces may do many things, but it is limited in doing so by a number of legal constraints, not the least of which is the US Constitution itself, Congressional Statute Laws, The US Posse Comitatus Act, https://www.rand.org/content/dam/rand/pubs/monograph_reports/MR1251/MR1251.AppD.pdf The Laws of Armed Conflict https://www.icrc.org/en/doc/assets/files/other/law1_final.pdf and various international treaties and conventions. Additionally, On the ground, individual military personnel and units are constrained by the ROE issued by higher commanders. Commanders and service personnel who apply force (lethal or otherwise) outside of these legal constraints risk facing serious sanctions both under military and civilian laws. The "I was only following orders" defence kinda died during the Nuremberg war trials. Unfortunately , some here have the wet dream that the military could and should be used to apply force (lethal in particular), to keep political tribes that they disapprove of in their box.

US DOD Policy concerning Military Aid to the Civil Power (MACP)/ Military Aid to the Civil Authorities (MACA) is quite clear on the limits applicable concerning the extent to which the US military is to be involved in providing aid to the civil authority.

    emboldening by chelloveck.

The Kent State experience is possibly the reason why less than lethal force equipment is often issued to .mil personnel providing MACA support to Law Enforcement Agencies. Kent State indelibly stained the military of the time: it simply increased the moral currency of the anti-war movement, and, in its way, added to the corrosion of the morale of the military in pursuing a war that was clearly becoming increasingly unpopular on the home front.

Sure, some here might find a 'whiff of grapeshot" appealing, when applied to their tribal enemies, but I doubt they'd be so sanguine if .gov were ordering it to keep the grapeshot 'enthusiasts' in order. Be careful of what you wish for. Politicising the .mil is a risky business...it is just as like to hasten the decline and disintegration of the USA as a world power, turning the military into enforcers for populist banana republic style tyrants.

If Kent State is any kind of precedent it is as a case study on how NOT to provide aid to the civil authorities....ill equipped, ill trained, poorly led, and ill disciplined in the application of lethal force. Yes it was an expensive lesson: Two of the four people killed at Kent State, and some of the injured in that massacre were not protesters. but were a distance away from the protest, killed collaterally by overs fired in the direction of the protesters...probably the reason for now issuing service personnel with less than lethal equipment in aiding civil law enforcement, to avoid a reprise of Kent State....an expensive lesson indeed...for the .mil.

Just goes to show the lack of Research, this JackAss does on his material, before he presents it to the Public... What he FAILS to Understand is that what they are trying to prevent, is another Terrorist Bombing on an Aircraft, using a Binary Energetic Material... The Binary Energetic commonly used is Acetone Peroxide, which is made using Acetone and Hydrogen Peroxide, mixed together just before it is used... This stuff and formulation is straight out of "The Anarchist CookBook"... Neither of these precursors are dangerous in and of themselves... Only when they are mixed and the chemical Reaction has taken place to form the Energetic... You can safely throw either one, or both, in the Garbage, inside their containers, with absolute confidence that nothing will happen...

One of my "Pet Peeves" is when folks pontificate about things they have absolutely No Knowledge or Understanding about... Typically the "Talking Heads" on the Tube, or Flat screen... It seems that these days Everyone is an X Spuirt....
