We've had storms like that around here , it kind of jumps around but leaves a good bit of damage , and not really a distinct path. A Micro burst is what they're called. No matter what it was , I'm glad to hear you all suffered no harm or damage.
Although being in the midwest if the house is still on the foundation we tend not to think of it as a strong tornado. Looks more like the size we tend to watch from the back deck while drinking beer! Still very strange that you got one at all. Glad you guys are OK.

I never give out my address or such ,or ask for anything but hot drinks NO BOOZE ,, but a few years later I have had a lady come up to the ranch and offer me some home made cookies when I used my snow blower to clear a path to the main road ! ,she is a mile or so away . It doesn't mean your impervious , it only means you are fortunate . I would be building a below ground shelter any way. about to do that here , even though it's never happened here YET

Were Good here , Power will be back on on Monday up here , Im More than prepared , Solar with inverter APU's . I have been out for a few days cutting free firewood and helping ill prepared folks around us . I have 40+ 100'-150' trees down from the storm ,and I had 2 hangers at 45* tilt waiting to fall,last night at 11PM one came down with no wind or noise till CRACK thump !! , This is when the dogs are kept on least till no more will fall over.. Just back from helping a few folks who have been in the dark !! Prepared folks are shaking there heads ,, why live out here like I do ?? With a city thinking !! Out here , your on YOUR OWN !!
