Does anyone know the pros and cons of using expired tea bags ?? Any dangers involved in this ?? How long after expiration date would be ok ??
Good question. I can't wait to see the various responses to this, although my three or four boxes rarely last a month. Me loves me South Gawga Sweet Iced Tea.
You're getting into specifics above my " Palate ",,,,,,,,, I just use the normal Lipton or store brands. I'm not picky,,,,
generally, "Tea bags will be fine for at least a year in the pantry, but even long after that, they're still safe to consume. They just might change colour or flavour. If your tea has an expiration date then it's just for best quality, not safety." so yer probably gud fer at least that long, possibly much longer
seriously though if it is stored properly n not contaminated it should last at least 1 to ? years. where ? can be 2 plus years. It might last longer than that
Not quite AOG,,,,I usually just keep water , beer , or likker in the fridge . ,,,, I just hate throwing stuff away if I don't use it quick enough,,
I've stored and used regular old tea bags after vacuum packing as high as eight years on with only slight change in flavor. If you drink it sweet I'm not sure if the difference would matter. Take into consideration that I'm a retired long haul driver so my taste buds MIGHT be a bit unreliable.
You can always keep some tea bricks. 17.6 oz $30. now sold via WallyWorld from Lehman Hardware and Appliances, Inc.
the Lipton I just bought, 100 bags, are packaged in 3 sealed mylar packages that I reseal with my FoodSaver... I would guess that they would last a good length of time. My previous box lasted nearly 5 years, with no deterioration in flavor without the mylar packaging...
I once drank a root beer float that was in my truck for 3 days and it was good I am going to say old tea bags are good to drink also I would drink another root beer float that has sat in Mt truck for three days it really was good must have been the curds and whey.
Im guessing would depend on if still sealed or not. Main thing I would worry about would be mold. Other than that, probably just affect the taste, might get “stale” Then again my mom was using teabags that exspired 3-4 years ago..... Yeah, shes still alive.., (did strongly suggest she get new teabags )
I am using tea bags two years past expiration. It tastes stale but otherwise is fine. I have not gotten sick.
I've got some , it's just a year out. I don't drink it real sweet anymore , I can just put a lemon in it to help the stale taste if it bothers me , but it probably won't. But getting sick was my biggest worries , I'll check it for mold just in case. Thanks for all the help.
My mom has loose leaf tea that is decades old. They still make it into the rotation. No one has suffered any ill effects. To my knowledge. To my knowledge. To my knowlede. To my knowledge.
I have about a 500+ family size bags vacuum sealed in the freezer. I expect it to be good for many years.
