Got two more seven gallon "Water Cube" jugs to extend my stored water, and two Dorcy 'Metal Gear' 1-watt LED flashlights. Excellent small FL! It makes the MiniMaglight look sick and flimsy! This thing rivals the big Maglight in power output, and doesn't have that blueish dim light! At $18 a pop, it ain't cheap, but it's a good value.
Picked up a new small Spotting Scope to replace my old broken unit. This one is compact enough for carrying afield. Remington brand, sold by Wally's. 20X50 power.
Stocked up on more Zatarain Ready To Eat rice meals ('poor man's MRE'), and four packs of Fire Sticks. Got more large bandaids to restock the big FAK.
Got a 'hydration compatible' backpack for use on the bike - looks less 'tactical wannabe' than my camo pack. I need another for use as a BOB for the car. Nice 'gray man' unit in case I need to hoof it thru town.
Got two gallon cans of the "Ozark Trails" brand camping fuel - lots cheaper than the "Coleman" brand in the smaller bottles.

    Regarding canned butter

    Hi Josh

here's the link I used for the receipe http://www.endtimesreport.com/canning_butter.html

here are some things I would do next time
buy butter in solid # instead of sticks. less to unwrap.

Be sure to use a metal or wood spatula...even extra heavy hard plastic will bend.

Be sure to wipe your jar lids to keep moisture out of butter. I did this but wanted to tell you just in case.

And the shaking is very very important...especially after you put in the refrigerator....it won't take long but you need to be shaking almost constantly.

It's not hard and they really look good ...I used wide mouth pint jars and 11# butter got me 13 1/4 pints. Made last 1 1/4 into garlic butter by adding garlic powder and mixing in.

Going to try Honey Butter for next batch.

ChemGal -- Concerning canned butter: I followed the same exact recipe and canned butter earlier this year. If you keep the jars in a cool place, they'll probably last quite a few months; otherwise, you may need to use it up before a year passes just to be safe.

Once you open the jar it needs to be used within a couple weeks (if not refrigerated). Especially in the hot summer months; I lost a pint that I used only sparingly over that last 3 weeks.

Someone had a recipe for canning butter with all the fat removed -- that would be a good long-term storage. I've forgotten what it's called, but it will keep for a much longer time.

BTW - I love the taste of the canned butter!

I loaded up 500 rounds of ammo on my new Dillon press :), now to get some serious range time in :)

I took a Defensive/Tactical Shotgun Level I class at my range last weekend. After shooting about 120 rounds of 12ga (00bk, 4bk, slug, and bird shot) my shoulder is a tad bit sore ;)

I also picked up the maxpedition jumbo fatboy versapak. This will be my daily carry emergency bag. Currently I've just got a couple of "emergency" items in it, but I'm building it up and should have it done by next week. Currently I have water, emergency food bars (lemon butter flavored), small first aid kit, advil, benedryl, tylonal, and some hard candy. This bag is also my "carry" bag in the sense that I cannot carry my firearm on me at work, so the bag get locked up in my desk at work. I know, not the best, but it is better than nothing.

    1) A sealed box of 24 cans - half are Chef BoyArdee stuff, half are Campbell's Chunky Soups (the meatier ones I like). They can all be eaten right from the can - "poor man's MRE's!".

    2) Two more cases of Ramen Noodles. Not bad when 'stretched' with real meat and veggies.

    3) Two 50-round boxes of Remington .45ACP 230 grain FMJ, and two 50-round boxes of Remington 9mm Luger, and two 325-round boxes of Federal .22LR Auto Match. Best I could do short of payday . . .

Hopefully I can stock up on powder and primer's at the next gunshow - July 14&15 locally.

Nuther skid of those 25 case deals of Mountain House food from JC Refuge is waiting on me at the local FedEx terminal to pick up Monday morning.

    150 #10 cans is almost a year's worth for wife and I.

Run across an old style shallow well pitcher pump, new, 2 spare sets of valve leathers, foot valve and 30 feet of pipe for it.All told it set me back less than $70 and I don't think there is another one available now in an area with about 200,000 people in it. Everything you need for an old hand dug shallow well to pump water but the cover.Put the leather pieces in plastic bags and put rustproofing on the metal parts. Can't help but think that if TSHTF, it wouldn't be useful or a good trade item and it is bout the same cost as the wife and I going out for a good resturant supper and taking in a movie.

Another two weeks supply of canned goods, two 1-pound tins of "Irish Oatmeal" (expensive, but I wanted to try it), several more packets of Zatarain's "ready to eat" rice meals.
Six pounds of rice and six pounds of dried Blackeye Peas.
    Two pounds of yellow cornmeal.
Also got two steel five-gallon gas cans with jerrycan racks (bolt-on-the-truck type), so another ten gallons of gas added to the 18 gallons I already have.
Enough Stabil to keep it clean for awhile.
Two gallons of 10W-40 oil for the car & truck.
Two more six-gallon water cans, and a two-gallon ice-water container.
Two big bags of charcoal for the grill.

Modest, I know, but I have a vacation trip next month - can't spend too much!
