Not everyone. Just the folks I run into. I was recently locked in a room of other jurors. 8 out of 12 were the dumbest people ever! I recently sold my son’s car. I knew it was destined for another kid so I went way above and beyond to make sure it was shining like a diamond, fresh oil, and just about everything else I could think of. Dad starts texting me four days later with veiled threat$. Really?! The topper though is going to the Olympic National Forest headquarters and asked for a ONF map. $12 dollars. I get up in the middle of nowhere and needed to look up a road number. The lady sold me an Olympic National Park map. At the OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST HEADQUARTERS!!!!!!!!! Other than that I’m having a great Labor Day long weekend. Lol.
I've a friend that wants me to sell my pickup to her son. Not gonna happen for that very reason. I WILL let them know where the tradein takes place the day before it goes. Let that dealer handle it, I have no wish for that type of interaction.
You're right though... People in general are dumb as rocks, figure you have no recourse, figure they (Because of their own stupidity) can give you grief over a purchase they made, Can't understand the spoken language or read past third grade level and couldn't make change for a dollar if the purchase was for$.99 without the register telling them what it was.
Too bad about the car. When Dad passed on, Mom wanted to sell his car, a 2006 Mercury Grand Marquis. My coworker at the time had traded her older GM for a Cadillac. The Caddy was nothing but trouble. She had loved her Grand Marquis. So I offered her Dad's car. It was still in great shape. She met Mom, and we did the deal. That was in 2014. She still loves the car. It was a good deal for all concerned. A buddy once sold his old car, a Toyota Camry, to a woman. She wrecked the car two weeks later, and wanted my buddy to pay for repairs! His response to her was excellent, but not for a family forum.
I watch DUMB DAILY , I got 2 more years till they oustme . At my age , insurance is as much as pay over .7 dec.
My story involves my young adopted nephew. I say "adopted" because there is no biological relationship. He's just some kid I crossed paths with years ago and we clicked. I've been watching his back ever since...and he's worth it! A "friend" of his went out and got a title loan against a car. He got into more money trouble and ended up giving the car to my nephew, who took over the payments, after which time he would get the title to the car. When he told me, I absolutely wanted to scream. For starters, I found a ton of stuff wrong with the car. It needed a battery. There was less than 10,000 miles left on the tires. The antifreeze looked like mud. The A/C did not work. The radio did not work. It even needed new windshield wiper blades. I mean what the hell kid, didn't you at least turn stuff on and see if it works? How hard is this?? I wasn't done with him yet. I made him sit next to me while I showed him online that the car in its current condition was worth about $3000. If he let the payments go as long as the terms of the loan allowed, he will have shelled out $9000 for a $3000 car that will be in junkyard before he's done paying for it. He felt like a fool when I laid the facts down to him. I really care about this kid and wanted to help him find a way out. "So Tevin, what should I do". I advised him to take one of three paths: 1. Give the car back to his "friend" and bail on the whole deal. 2. Bring the car to the title loan company. Remove the license plates, cancel the insurance and leave it in the parking lot. Drop the keys on the counter and tell those f##kers they can do whatever they want with it. 3. Come up with the full payoff amount of the loan and just clear the debt entirely, thereby evading abusive interest. If the car had not been such a pile of crap I would have given him the money to go with option #3. He called his "friend" while I was present. I could not follow the conversation because they were speaking in Spanish and when they were all done the "friend" didn't want the car back. It's hard to get mad. My nephew's family struggles financially and he thought getting this car would be a way of helping them out. He is a genuinely decent person with a heart of gold and he's not at all stupid. In fact, he's exceptionally bright. But like all young people he's impulsive and does not think things through. I never saw the car again after that day. I'm pretty sure he went with #2. They're not dumb they're just young & inexperienced. We've all been there.
Okay Meat, I'll bite the bait. Why was the Dad getting his panties in a wad? For selling the kid the car, for car being in too good a shape, or kid already wrecked it that fast???
Awwww thank you! <hug> Those who stereotype young people as stupid overindulged brats have never met a thoughtful and introspective Hispanic kid from a shitty neighborhood who is doing everything he possibly can to stay away from gangs and drugs and trouble. He comes from a nice family but they are poor and can't do very much their children. Yeah, he's done some really really dumb things and I can't always bail him out, but he's humble, very hard working, and learns from his mistakes. I absolutely 100% believe in him.
People have also been known to go up in hot-air balloons. Even pay for the ride. I can’t figure it out because they’re 100% fatal trips.
I've been fortunate... I have an equal number of take off's and landings in a Balloon... and I'm still alive.... (10/10)
